Per la descrizione del giro si rinvia quasi il tutto alla traccia denominata “ Sentiero del Brigante”. La variante Eremo di San Giorgio, nel momento in cui si giunge in località Cona , impone di snobbare la traccia C.A.I. che sale ripidissima sulla dx al Monte di Rosara. Infatti si prosegue diritto su strada asfaltata per qualche km fino a contrada Saccioni. Giunti ad un incrocio si prende a dx e dopo qualche centinaio di metri è evidente sulla sx la segnalazione per l’eremo. Si pedala su ampia traccia boscosa e rapidamente si raggiunge l’eremo di San Giorgio. L'eremo di San Giorgio è un monastero ormai abbandonato, costruito nell'anno 1382 su iniziativa del vescovo Pietro Torricella, come riporta il canonico Pietro Capponi nelle sue "Memorie Storiche della Chiesa Ascolana" del 1898. Il fabbricato si eleva sul versante che fronteggia il centro di Castel Trosino. In origine doveva essere il luogo di un presidio militare sorto come integrazione ed appoggio per il castello ed in seguito venne trasformato in convento. Dall’eremo, se si volge lo sguardo a sx, si nota una piccola traccia che aggira lo stabile ed inizia a scendere vertiginosamente verso il lago di Casette. Il tratto rappresenta un’autentica perla per gli amanti del single track di qualità. La splendida roccaforte longobarda di Castel Trosino e le verdi acque del Lago di Casette fungono da sfondo mentrre noi scendiamo su un “serpentello” che striscia sul fianco del monte regalandoci svolte da urlo e costringendoci ad un nose-press continuo. Soltanto il finale si rivela alquanto proibitivo perché le ultime due svolte hanno un spaventosa pendenza verso l’esterno anzichè verso l’interno. Il blocco psicologico può avere il sopravvento....ma niente paura… le ultime due svolte non sono altro che la ciliegina sulla torta.
