Habe die Tour erstellt, um eine längere und Abwechslungsreiche Strecke in der Nähe meines Wohnortes zu haben. Die Tour führt über drei (+1 kleine) Halden und den Mechtenberg. Außerdem gibt es schöne Aussichten zu bewundern. Obwohl es eine Strecke mitten durchs Ruhrgebiet ist, gibt es nur einen minimalen Straßenanteil. Die Strecke ist auch ohne Mountainbike machbar, allerdings muss man dann einige Abschnitte bergauf wohl schieben und bergab ein paar Singletrails umfahren (z.B. auf der Schurenbachhale). Schurenbachhalde - Halde Zollverein 4/11 - Halde Rheinelbe - Halde an der Zeche Zollverein Außer den Halden sieht man noch einige Sehenswürdigkeiten der Industriekultur, z.B. Zeche und Kokerei Zollverein, die Zeche Carl (dort muss man kurz links abbiegen, wenn man sie besuchen möchte) und außerdem den Wissenschaftspark Gelsenkirchen sowie das Wildgehege Schonnebeck. Die Zeche Zollverein beherbergt das Red Dot Design Museum und die Kokerei das Ruhrmuseum. Auf der Kokerei befindet sich außerdem ein Cafe (direkt am Schwimmbecken- einfach fragen, wenn ihr es nicht findet), an dem man sich kurz vor Ende der Tour für seine Leistung belohnen kann ;) Wer sich gerne abkühlen mag, sollte Schwimmshorts dabei haben, für das kostenlose "Werksschwimmbad". Falls hier jemand dabei ist, der auf gehobene Gastronomie steht, gibt es als Alternative das Casino auf der Zeche Zollverein.
