Los gehts ab Gotha, Goldbacher Siedlung nach Goldbach und dann auf den Radweg Richtung Kindel. Kurz nach Friedrichswerth über Feldwege und Straße nach Behringen. Hier beginnt der ca. 31 Km lange und teilweise noch unbekannte Rennstieg durch den Hainich. Man fährt schmale Trails, Schotterwege und Waldwege entlang durch teilweise unberührte Natur. Daher kann es schnell passieren, dass man das R mit Fußstrich schnellt übersieht. Verfahren ist vorprogrammiert. Für eine Verschnaufpause ist die Craulaer Hütte gut aufgestellt. Teilweise sind die Waldwege sehr matschig, da das Sonnenlicht kaum durch die dichten Bäume auf den Waldboden kommt. Am Ende des Rennstieges, bei Eigenrieden, sind noch Mammutbäume zu besichtigen. Ab hier geht es über den Hainichlandweg zurück nach Behringen und über den Kindel-Radweg wieder zurück nach Gotha. Etwas Abseits vom Rennstieg gibt es einiges zu sehen. Die Betteleiche, das Wildkatzengehege, welches man auch über den Skulpturenweg und Wildkatzenpfad erreicht, den Generalsblick und vieles mehr. Am besten ihr schaut mal auf den Link.
