Der folgende Text stammt von der Website: Im Trail-Paradies Gran Canaria wird mit BergBiken bestimmt keinem Mountainbiker langweilig: auf unserer fünftägigen Runde, die von Maspalomas aus gegen den Uhrzeigersinn das zentrale Bergmassiv des Pico de las Nieves umrundet und dessen Höhepunkte und Gipfel immer wieder schneidet, erkunden wir Pässe, Aussichtspunkte, Küstenhochstraßen, Grate, Nationalparke und Bergdörfer. Natürlich fehlt auch der 1949 m hohe Pico de las Nieves nicht auf unserer Runde, und des Öfteren strampeln wir fast vom Meereslevel weit hinauf in das mal karge, mal grüne Gebirge mit seinen wilden und anspruchsvollen Formen, um auf der anderen Seite einen schnellen Trail mit Meerblick hinabzurasen. Der Zivilisation und dem touristischen Treiben der Insel bleiben wir in diesen fünf Tagen jedoch weitestgehend fern – wir zeigen euch die einsamen Ecken Gran Canarias. Insgesamt sind auf der Runde 220 km und rund 6500 Höhenmeter zu überwinden - und trotz der kilometermäßig oft nicht allzu langen Etappen werden alle Tage bestens ausgefüllt sein. Tag 1 (54 km, 1250 hm) Wir starten im bekannten Badeort Maspalomas an der Südküste und erstrampeln uns auf staubigen Pisten die ersten paar hundert Höhenmeter im Barranco de Fataga. Dieser Aufstieg dient nicht nur dem Warmwerden - er bietet bereits alles: staubig-trockene Schotterpisten und Trailabschnitte sowie eine Schiebepassage zum Pass des Tages oberhalb von Fataga. Nachdem wir uns zu Füßen des Passes im 700 m hoch gelegenen Städtchen Santa Lucía etwas erfrischt haben, geht es adrenalintreibend hinab: auf der 13 km langen Abfahrt Richtung Ostküste werden wir mit der "Vernichtung" von rund 650 Höhenmetern belohnt, die dank steiniger Trails nicht immer von ganz allein rollen. Über das Dorf Sardinas geht es dann ein Stück küstenparallel, ohne dass wir zu sehr in die Touristenwelt zurückkehren müssen. Wir finden Unterkunft in dem auf einer Terrasse leicht erhöht gelegenen Dorf Agüimes mit seinen kanarentypischen Häusern und kleinen Plätzen.
