Escursione effettuata il 3 novembre 2012 con gli amici del Timme (MTB Team Aurora) su idea del Cangia.
Il tratto di asfalto all'andata ed al ritorno sulla SR2 Cassia possono essere evitati (in condizioni di asciutto) in questo modo: dal parcheggio della Colonna di Monteriggioni si scende verso la pista ciclabile per Castellina Scalo, si passa sotto la SI/FI e si gira a destra, si prosegue a diritto su uno stradello e si guada lo Staggia tenendo la destra. Si costeggia la ferrovia fino ad incontrare un passaggio a livello, qui a destra guadando di nuovo lo Staggia e poi girando a sinistra costeggiando la massicciata e la rete della SI/FI, si passa sotto ad un viadotto e si sbocca su una sterrata dove si prende a sinistra rientrando in traccia. Al ritorno si segue a ritroso il percorso descritto, sotto al viadotto e lungo la massicciata della SI/FI ma arrivati alla stradina la si prende a sinistra passando sotto la SI/FI e proseguendo fino alla Cassia, rientrando in traccia.
Attenzione alla fine della salita per Castellina, la strada percorsa nella traccia è a senso unico, meglio seguire le indicazioni per Siena.
L'escursione è percorribile senza problemi in tutte le stagioni, è facile tecnicamente ma abbastanza impegnativo dal punto di vista fisico. Numerosi punti panoramici (Valle Chiara, Castellina in Chianti, Badiola, Fonterutoli). Raccordo autostradale SI/FI uscita Monteriggioni, si imbocca la SR2 Cassia verso Siena e davanti al bar dell' Orso si gira a sinistra verso il piccolo parcheggio sottostante all'edificio del Comune.

Carried Excursion November 3, 2012 with friends from the Timme (MTB Team Aurora) on the idea Cangià.
The stretch of asphalt in the first leg and the return on SR2 Cassia can be avoided (in dry conditions) in this way: from the parking lot of the Column of Monteriggioni you go down to the bike path to Castellina Scalo, you pass under the SI / FI and turn right, continue straight on a dirt road and ford the Staggia keeping to the right. It runs along the rail until you reach a level crossing at right fording of the new Staggia and then turning left along the embankment and the network of SI / FI, you pass under a viaduct and opens out onto a dirt road where you returning to the track turn left. On the way back we follow back the route described, under the viaduct and along the embankment of the SI / FI but got to the street you turn left passing under the SI / FI and continuing until the Cassia, returning to the track.
< br> Warning at the end of the climb to Castellina, the path followed in the track is one-way, better follow the signs for Siena.
The hike is feasible without problems in all seasons, but technically it is easy enough challenging from a physical point of view. Numerous sights (Clare Valley, Castellina in Chianti, Badiola, Fonterutoli). Overpass SI / FI Monteriggioni exit, take the SR2 Cassia towards Siena and in front of the bar dell 'Orso, turn left into the small parking lot below the building of the Municipality.
