Questo itinerario ha luogo alle pendici del monte Matajur,che con la sua possente e inconfondibile mole domina le suggestive valli del Natisone situate a cavallo tra pianura e prealpi giulie.
L'itinerario è piuttosto impegnativo,non tanto per il dislivello coperto in salita ma per le caratteristiche del sentiero CAI 749 sul quale si effettua buona parte del tragitto di ritorno,sentiero che si consiglia di affrontare in condizioni di terreno asciutto.
La varietà di situazioni di cui è caratterizzato l'itinerario, non mancherà di coinvolgere l'attraversamento di bellissimi boschi e caratteristiche borgate, abbarbicate su questo aspro e selvaggio versante meridionale del monte Matajur, dove seguirà la grande panoramica dell'ultimo tratto di ascesa sino al passo di Glevizza. A coronamento di tutto, in particolar modo per gli appassionati dei single tracks, saprà entusiasmare la stupenda discesa del sentiero (749) della cresta spartiacque (difficoltà S1/S2) che sormonta la vallata del Natisone.
Divertente, in ultimo, il rientro a San Pietro attraverso sentierini nascosti. E' possibile lasciare posteggiata la vettura nel vasto piazzale posto sul lato sinistro della chiesa Parocchiale di S.Pietro al Natisone:la troviamo sulla destra dopo il centro del paese, che è comodamente accessibile dalla S.S. 54.

This route takes place on the slopes of Mount Matajur, with its powerful and unmistakable mass dominates the picturesque valleys of Natisone situated in between the plain and the Julian Pre-Alps.
The route is quite challenging, not because of the difference in height covered in climb but for the characteristics of CAI 749 on which you make a good part of the return journey, the path that you may want to address in terms of dry soil.
The variety of situations in which it is characterized itinerary, will not fail to involve the crossing of beautiful woods and characteristics villages, perched on this wild and rugged southern slope of Mount Matajur, where you look at the vast panorama of the last stretch of the climb up to the pass of Glevizza. To crown it all, especially for fans of single tracks will capture the wonderful descent of the path (749) of the watershed ridge (difficulty S1 / S2) that overcomes the valley of the Natisone.
Funny, finally, the return to St. Peter's little pathways through hidden. E 'possible to leave the car parked in the large square on the left side of the Parish church of San Pietro al Natisone: we find on the right after the center of the country, which is easily accessible from SS 54.
