Ab Saarburg fährt man größtenteils auf dem ausgeschilderten Fernwanderweg, als "X" gekennzeichnet. Die Strecke führt am Altfels vorbei, sowie ist ein Abstecher zum "Gipfelkreuz Maunert" (ausgeschildert) möglich. Man kann um das Gipfelkreuz herum auf einem Felspfad herum gehen und trifft dann später wieder auf den Hauptweg, aber Radfahrer müssen ihr Rad dort tragen. Besser ist es den Abstecher wieder zurück zu gehen zum Hauptweg. Grundsätzlich ist auf der Runde für jeden etwas dabei. Auf dem Pfad vor dem Altfels muss geschoben werden. Zurück auf gleichem Weg oder auf Radstreifen an der Straße entlang der Saar.
