Die Fanes-Runde stellt eine Herausforderung an die Kondition dar. Die Anstrengungen werden aber mit einem phantastischen Panorama belohnt, so wie es nur die Dolomiten bieten können. Die Runde beginnt im Badia-Tal am Ortsrand von St. Leonhard. Schon zu Beginn geht es merklich bergan. Dabei wechselt auch der Untergrund. Schotter- und Karrenwege, kurze Trails an exponierten Hängen aber auch mit großem Straßenanteil. Atemberaubende Ausblicke auf die Geislerspitzen und den Peitlerkofel laden zum Verweilen ein. Bei St. Vigil beginnt die Auffahrt zur Fanes Alm. Alternativ kann auch in St. Vigil die Fanes-Runde gestartet werden. Ab hier geht es auf geteerten Untergrund bis zur Pederü-Hütte stetig und angenehm bergauf. Dann steht der beschwerliche Anstieg zur Fanes-Hütte auf wenig einladendem Untergrund an. Hier oben (2060 M) hat man sich eine Brotzeit verdient, bevor es noch ein kurzes steiles Stück hinauf über das Fanesjoch zum Limosee geht. Oben angekommen eröffnet sich einem eine atemberaubende gigantische Felsformation, in die der smaragdgrüne See eingebettet ist. Der nun folgende Dolomiten-Höhenweg sucht seinesgleichen. Eine Märchenlandschaft lässt einem alle vorangegangenen Strapazen vergessen. Man schwebt förmlich an saftigen Almwiesen und den grauen Riesen der Dolomiten vorbei. Einziger Wehrmutstropfen ist der kaum fahrbare Trail vom Col de Locia hinab zur Capanna Alpina. Danach fliegt man förmlich bis St. Kassian und weiter auf dem Wanderweg nach La Villa. Kurze Zeit später rollt das Bike durch Abtei Badia zum Startpunkt der Tour.

The round begins in the Badia Valley on the outskirts of St. Leonhard. At the beginning it is noticeably uphill. It also changes the background. In St. Vigil the driveway begins to Fanes. Alternatively, the Fanes-round can be started in St. Vigil. From here it goes on paved ground to Pederü hut steadily and pleasant uphill. Then, standing at the arduous climb to the Fanes Hut on little welcoming ground. Up here (2060 M) one has earned a snack before it even a short steep going up over the Fanesjoch to Limosee. At the top is a giant opened a stunning rock formation, in which the emerald green lake is nestled. The subsequent Dolomites Alta Via unparalleled. A fairytale landscape lets you forget all previous exertions. It seems to float past lush meadows and the gray giants of the Dolomites. The only downer is the little wheeled Trail from the Col de Locia down to the Capanna Alpina. Then you flying out to San Cassiano and continue on the trail to La Villa. A short while later the bike rolls by Abbey Badia to the starting point of the tour.
