"Der Weg ist das Ziel" Phantastische Waldwege mit schönen Panoramablicken zeichnen diese Tour aus. Zu Beginn oder am Ende der Tour lädt Schloss Bürresheim zur Besichtigung ein und bietet Einblicke in das Leben des Adels zwischen dem 15. und dem 20. Jahrhundert. Auf halber Strecke kann man weiterhin kurze Abstecher zur Wallfahrtskapelle St. Jost und zur Burgruine Virneburg machen. Vom Startpunkt - Parkplatz Burg Bürresheim – geht es zunächst ein paar Meter entlang der L 83 zur historischen Hammesmühle; hier Querung der Nette über die kl. Brücke. Aufwärts geht es zum Schälkopf, wo die Strecke zum Teil großartige Ausblicke auf Schloss Bürresheim und das Nettetal bietet. Der letzte Teil des Anstiegs zum Bleiberg (476 m) ist etwas fordernd, ein kurzes Stück muss man ggf. sogar schieben. Der Ausblick und das lauschige Rastplätzchen an der Bleiberghütte entschädigt aber für die Mühe. Auch die Abfahrt von der Bleiberghütte über den Pionierweg nach Nitztal ist recht fordernd, wenn man aber sicher mit dem Bike ist macht die Herausforderung Spaß. Wer sich den Abschnitt sparen will, der nimmt als Alternative (siehe Vorschlag in der Karte) die frühe Abfahrt nach Nitztal. Aus der Ortslage Nitztal geht es am Nitzbach entlang bis zur Sankt-Jost-Mühle; ein Abstecher zur Wallfahrtskapelle St. Jost lohnt sich. Am munter plätschernden Bach entlang führt der Weg weiter zur Jodokussäule. Hier rechts halten und weiter am Welschenbach zur Hohe Warte (523 m). Bei Freilingen beginnt dann die Rücktour. Hier immer in Richtung der Burgruine Virneburg halten. In Virneburg, an der ESSO-Tankstelle in der Hauptstraße, beginnt dann der ca. 1,5 km lange Aufstieg auf den Brauberg (525 m). Die Tolle Aussicht von der Schützhütte am Brauberg entschädigt aber. Weiter geht es bergauf durch Wiesenpassagen, dann zur Wacholderheide an der Hohen Warte. Der Weg nach Kürrenberg und weiter bis zum Eiterbach führt immer entlang des Maas-Rhein-Weges (weiße Welle - schwarzes Viereck). Weiter führt der Waldweg im schattigen Hochwald abwärts durch das Eiterbachtal mit munter plätscherndem Bach, am Eiterbachweiher vorbei und weiter oberhalb der Nette bis zur historischen Hammesmühle, dem Historischen Gasthaus am Schloss Bürresheim (Forellen aus eigenem Mühlgraben , regionale Eifelgerichte und selbstgemachte Pasta - Ruhetag: Montag + Dienstag).
