6. Tag Freitag, 29. August 2008 Über die Lepontinischen Alpen Nach der Auffahrt in Ort Dongo trennen uns noch 1800Hm vom Passo San Jorio. Die Enfernung zum Comer See, oder Lario, wie die Italiener sagen wächst von Kehre zu Kehre. Nach dem Dorf Garzeno gibt es kaum noch motorisierten Verkehr und es geht durch einen schönen Laubwald. Auf 1300m zieht sich die Straße von der Südost- zur Nordostseite des Bergs. Der Fahrbahnbelag wechselt von Asphalt zu grobem Schotter und wir lassen die schattenspendenden Bäume hinter uns. Vorbei am Rifugio Giovo machen wir die letzten steilen 150 Höhenmeter zum Rifugio San Jorio (gute Küche). Die letzten 50Hm zum Pass muß man schieben. Am Paß verläuft die Grenze zwischen Italien und der Schweiz. Im Tal ist unser Ziel, der Lago Maggiore, gesäumt von Städten und Dörfern an seinem Ufer, darüber Berge, die teilweise schon die 3000m-Marke übersteigen, dahinter am Horizont die Eis- und Felsriesen der Walliser- und Berner Alpen - vom Monte Rosa bis zum Finsteraarhorn. Wir nehmen den Weg zur Alpe di Giumello und schieben den bequemen Wanderpfad hinunter bis zur Alpe. Ab dort geht eine neue Almstraße hinunter ins Val Morobbio Auf den letzten Kehren hinunter ins Tal des Ticino haben wir noch einen schönen Blick auf Bellinzona mit dem Castel Grande. Auf dem Radweg geht?s nach Locarno. In einem Schlussanstieg von fast 200m erreichen wir müde, aber glücklich und zufrieden unsere Pensione Olanda. Nach fast 10.000Hm und 350km, nach außergewöhnlich vielen großartigen landschaftlichen und kulturellen Eindrücken bei wunderbarem Wetter sind wir am Ziel unserer Reise.

Day 6 Friday, August 29, 2008 About the Lepontine Alps After the driveway in place Dongo separate us 1800Hm from Passo San Jorio. The Enfernung to Lake Como or Lario, as the Italians call it grows from turn to turn. After the village Garzeno there are hardly any motor traffic and it goes through a beautiful hardwood forest. At 1300m, the road runs from the Southeast to the Northeast side of the mountain. The road surface changes from asphalt to coarse gravel and let the shady trees behind us. Passing the Rifugio Giovo we make the final steep 150 meters to the Rifugio San Jorio (good food). The last 50Hm to pass you have to push. At the pass the border between Italy and Switzerland runs. In the valley is our goal, the Lago Maggiore, bordered by the towns and villages on its banks, about mountains, some of which already exceed the 3000m mark, behind the horizon the ice and rock giants of the Valais and Bernese Alps - Mount Rosa for Finstaarhorn. We take the road to Alpe di Giumello and slide the easy pathway down to Alpe. From there a new Almstraße goes down into Val Morobbio In recent sweeping down the valley of the Ticino, we have a beautiful view of Bellinzona with the Castel Grande. Goes on the bike path? S to Locarno. In a final climb of nearly 200m we reach tired, but happy and satisfied our Pensione Olanda. After almost 10.000Hm and 350km, after extraordinarily many great scenic and cultural experience in beautiful weather we are at our destination.
