Bis Taufers siehe Dreiländer - Achter 1 und 2! Von Taufers fuhren wir auf der B 28 zurück bis St. Maria. Dort trennten wir uns: der Großteil der Gruppe fuhr die an diesem Tag (letztes Augustwochenende) für den motorisierten Verkehr gesperrte Umbrailpassstraße rauf. Kurz nach der Passhöhe, am Grenzübergang, hatte die Nationalparkverwaltung für die unzähligen Radlfahrer ein großes Buffet hergerichtet, jeder konnte sich kostenlos bedienen. Unser Weiterweg führte entlang eines steilen Abhangs zur Boccheta die Forcola hoch, mit knapp 2800 m der höchste Punkt der Tour. Immer im Angesicht von König Ortler. Von der Scharte fuhren wir die rechte Variante ab, die linke mit einem Gegenanstieg wäre gut zu finden. Die Abfahrt verlangt fahrerisches Können, sollte man nicht ab und zu das Fahrrad schieben wollen. Nun am türkisfarbenen Stausee Lago die San Giacomo entlang bis zur Einkehr. Nach der Stärkung kommt der Gegenanstieg zum Passo Alpisella, der anfangs recht steil wirkte. Ab der Passhöhe ging es nur noch bergab bis nach Livigno. Die Unterkunft dort war ebenso wie die anderen vorher bereits reserviert, ist auch in diesem Ort dringend zu empfehlen. Wer es gemütlicher, aber sicher landschaftlich ebenso beeindruckend haben möchte, findet in der Alternativroute durchs Val Mora einen leichteren Weg. Auf der Staumauer führen beide Wege wieder zusammen. Die Fortsetzung der Runde ist bei Dreiländer - Achter 4 nachzulesen!

Tures to see three countries - eight 1 and 2! From Tures we drove to the B 28 back to St. Mary. There we parted: the majority of the group went on that day (last weekend in August) up to motorized traffic blocked Umbrailpassstraße.
