Dobbiamo fare una premessa: non siamo stati del tutto fortunati nella scelta della traccia (e vi racconteremo perchè), tuttavia il luogo non ha mancato di incantarci per la sua naturale bellezza e per le variegata offerta sentieristica.
Castel del Rio è anche una località permeata di storia: quella recente che l'ha vista in prima linea nelle fasi finali della Seconda Guerra Mondiale. La Linea Gotica, lo sbarramento difensivo tedesco contrapposto all'avanzata degli angloamericani negli ultimi mesi del conflitto, ed i suoi lasciti sono oggi conservati in un bel museo storico che assieme al ponte degli Alidosi costituiscono un bel pacchetto turistico extra giro.

Castel del Rio is also a permeated history resort: the recent one that has seen it at the forefront of the final phases of the Second World War. The Gothic line, the German defensive barrier opposed to the advanced Angloamericans in the last months of the conflict, and its legs are today preserved in a beautiful historical museum that together with the Ponte degli Alidosi constitute a nice extra tourist tourist package."
