Von Schenna hinunter nach Meran dort in Richtung Etsch und dann der Hauptstrasse über Marling nach Lana folgen. Bessere Alternative ohne Autos ist evtl. wie auf dem Rückweg den Etschtalradweg bis zum Abzweig nach Lana zu nehmen. In Lana den Eingang zum Ultental in Richtung der Auffahrt zum Gampenpass passieren. Am Ortsausgang von Lana rechts dem sehr steilen Völlaner Weg hoch in Ultental nehmen. Diesen Weg lange bei +/- 20% Steigung bis zum Gasthaus Untermosselhof folgen. Ab hier wird die Steigung moderater. Da der in den Karten eingezeichnete Weg von Buchen hinunter nach Mitterbad sich als unpassierbar erweise, weil er zwar als Wanderweg angezeichnet, jedoch vollkommen verwildert war, mussten wir bis zum nächsten Straßenabzweig zurückkehren und den Weg nach Mitterbad über Straße fortsetzen. Mitterbad wurde 1971 aufgegeben und rotte seit dem vor sich hin. Nichts, außer Gedenktafeln neueren Datums, erinnert mehr an die seinerzeit berühmten Gäste, wie Otto von Bismark, Elisabeth "Sissi" Kaiserin von Österreich-Ungarn oder die Gebrüder Thomas und Heinrich Mann. Von Mitterbad geht es dann über die Straße ins Ultental nach Sankt Pankratz und vor dort über die Hautstraße zurück nach Lana und weiter an die Etsch um dort über den Etschtalradweg zurück nach Schenna zu gelangen.
