La prima uscita in Val di Merse, a sud-ovest di Siena. Partiamo subito da Rosi con una nebbia abbastanza fitta che ci impedisce, tra l'altro, di apprezzare i bei posti della zona e che si dirada soltanto due ore e mezzo dopo che siamo partiti. La qualità iniziale del percorso non è granché, praticamente tra strade statali e provinciali, passando per San Rocco a Pilli fino a Volte Basse e, dopo circa 12 km, ci immettiamo nella campagna e nelle strade bianche caratteristiche della zona, il località Selvaccia. Dopo aver attraversato la prima parte boschiva percorriamo un tratto della Via Francigena fino alla Piramide e al tunnel di scolmamanto medievale. Usciamo dal bosco fino a Caldana di Sopra da dove inizia la strada che riporta a Sovicille. Breve spuntino e ritorno verso Rosi, dove finisce il nostro Giro. Ovviamente la parte in natura è stata affascinante e ci ha ripagato del troppo asfalto percorso complessivamente.
The first exit in Val di Merse, south-west of Siena. Let's start off by Rosi with a fairly dense fog that prevents us, among other things, to appreciate the beautiful places in the area and that clears only two and a half hours after we started. The initial quality of the path is not much, pretty much between state and provincial roads, passing through San Rocco a Pilli until Volte Basse, and after about 12 km, we exit the country and the dirt roads of the area characteristics, the locations Selvaccia. After going through the first part woodland along a stretch of Via Francigena to the Pyramid and the medieval scolmamanto tunnel. We leave the forest to Caldana di Sopra from where begins the road back to Sovicille. Quick snack and return to Rosi, where our tour ends. Of course, the part in kind was charming and has paid off too asphalt path altogether.
