BACKGROUND: We wanted to reach the beach Avali for a healthy afternoon of sun and sea. The maps say that from our point of departure must cross at q. 370 (Kalamitsi), get off and go back to sea again in Kalamitsi for a very steep and sunny (facing west), unless ......
was able to connect with the nearby beach of Kathisma from which you falls crossing at q. 120
was something about the unknown of a long, wide beach (about 1 km) to be done on foot, pushing the bike and hoping not to get swept by the waves or rocky (the bike hate the salt water! ).
NOTE 1: the revolution is successful and is recommended if you love this kind of adventures; followed, however, some cautions: oiled well before the bike and wash it well after the release. If you are not used to walking barefoot (you'll also find rocks, sticks ...) Bring beach sandals for walking on the shore with the special bike shoes (fitted with metal hooks) is to be avoided.
NOTE 2: The ride is short and of course can be well complemented by a healthy dip; the swimsuit is not essential as this stretch is practiced without problems naturism.
DESCRIPTION:
From the campsite you climb towards the main Kalamitsi; At the point we turn to the secondary and finds himself in the principal B; after a short descent returns to rise, with some sustained ramp until you reach the village of Kalamitsi to q. 370 The descent towards Avali beach is little traffic in that, although paved, is narrow and steep; however, we prefer two detours on dirt very suggestive and panoramic view of the sea. The first access to the beach is 30 m above sea level (wp H) where there is a small bar and tavern in beautiful location; you can enjoy a refreshment before continuing.
The road now descends gently to the sea and access become more frequent. In wp J the asphalt ends and it is evident that also ends just beyond the runway: a storm did it collapse and from here you have to go on the beach. A jump of a few m (path semi-collapsed) forces us to drop the bike carefully but then there are other unexpected: there shall be 3 km / hour pushing the bike; stop and swim can not miss, then proceed. 20 min walk and you will reach the most famous (and crowded) beach of Kathisma. Earned a road with a steep staircase, there are structures, even at the end of the beach free showers (wp L1). It remains to be traced back to a height of 110 m, and in 2 minutes you can go to the camp to start.
