E' un itinerario tipicamente invernale o di inizio primavera, visto che il Montesole è battuto tutto il giorno dal sole e anche nei mesi più freddi non è mai troppo freddo. In estate invece fa troppo caldo e la già difficile salita sarebbe troppo stancante, al massimo si può affrontare di mattina molto presto. Inoltre la parte bassa del sentiero 6 è attualmente (2012) vietata alle bici, si prega perciò di non scendere lungo il sentiero di domenica e in alta stagione. D'inverno invece non ci sono problemi, inoltre il sentiero, anche se molto impegnativo, si può scendere anche con la neve. Bello anche il sentiero per tornare verso Merano. In alto la traccia si interrompe all'inizio del sentiero, ma basta salire ancora 100 metri e si arriva al maso Schnatz, dove con splendida vista si può mangiare cibo tipico, informarsi però sulle date di apertura. Attenzione, itinerario solo per esperti di tecnica di discesa! Uscita Bolzano sud della autostrada del Brennero, superstrada per merano, uscita Merano centro, parcheggio di fronte alla stazione
