E' solo un tentativo, continuavo a ripetermi questa frase durante la dura salita alla Chiesa di San Mauro, il tipico luogo dove, dal basso, diresti di non riuscire mai e poi mai ad arrivare, neppure a piedi.
Curiosando tra mappe, satellite, carte digitali, etc, ho voluto provare la salita da Lasen, chiaramente non sto parlando del sentiero che sale abbastanza brutalmente il vallone, ma della forestale che si trasformerà in quota in sentiero.
Alla partenza ci aspettano tre chilometri di facile asfalto scaldagambe, cui segue una deviazione in quota verso la case alte di Arson. Ed è qui, allo sbucare della nostra stradina, che ci troviamo a fare i conti da subito con una pendenza spaccagambe, 20-22%, prima asfaltata e poi sterrata, con fondo dall'ottima presa, ma pur sempre ripido. Sto parlando di fondo asciutto, col bagnato è tutta un'altra storia, meglio lasciar perdere.
La forestale sale i primi 300 metri di dislivello così, senza pause. La strada è larga e permette di salire a zig-zag. Poi arriva un falsopiano, un altro strappo e una pendenza più leggera. Prima di arrivare alle Case Cros, limite della forestale, ci sarà un'altra dura rampa da affrontare.
In tutto fin qui si spinge, a seconda della preparazione, tra i 2 minuti e i 10, a mio avviso. Ma siamo già a quota 1160, e sono alle spalle 700 metri di dislivello.
La carenza di visibilità (v. foto) non mi permette di godere il panorama, che dev'essere sicuramente eccezionale.
Da qui si prende a piedi il sentiero che taglia ortogonalmente la forestale sulla sinistra, si sale su buona mulattiera piuttosto ripida per circa 200 metri lineari, poi la pendenza spiana, qui è importante seguire la traccia e i segnavia sugli alberi.
Il rimanente tratto di sentiero, stretto, coperto in parte da vegetazione ma ben battuto, consente con una salita costante, alternata a brevi saliscendi, di raggiungere la selletta da cui avvistiamo la Chiesetta. Qualche tratto taglia un pendio abbastanza ripido anche se non pericoloso. Meglio evitare cadute e procedere a piedi.
Dalla selletta siamo più alti di circa 50 metri, è incredibile ma ci sono riuscito! Fino alla selletta si spinge per circa 5-10 minuti non di più, compreso il tratto appena descritto dopo le Case Cros.
Da qui il sentiero scende velocemente nel bosco, attraversa un canalino e il bivio per la forcella di S. Mauro, e arriva in altri 2 minuti alla Chiesetta.
Il ritorno l'ho fatto sulla stessa via dell'andata. Da solo e con tempo coperto non me la sono sentita di tentare la forcella e la discesa sulla Val Canzoi.

Browsing the maps , satellite, digital maps, etc, I wanted to try the climb from Lasen, clearly I'm not talking of the path up the valley quite brutally, but the forest will turn into quota in the path.

And it is here, at the emerge of our street, we are to deal immediately with a slope spaccagambe, 20-22%, before paved and then gravel, with the bottom by the excellent grip, but still steep. I'm talking about a dry, in the wet is a whole other story, forget it.
The forest climbs the first 300 meters in altitude so without pause. The road is wide and allows you to get a zig-zag. Then comes a slight slope, another tear and a slope lighter. Before we get to Case Cros, the limit of the forest, there will be another ramp hard to deal with.
In all hitherto goes, depending on the preparation, between 2 minutes and 10, in my opinion. But we are already at an altitude of 1160 and are behind 700 meters.
The lack of visibility (v. Pictured) does not allow me to enjoy the view, which must certainly be great.
< br> From here we take a walking trail that cuts orthogonally the forest on the left, go up the steep trail good for approximately 200 linear feet, then the slope flattens, here it is important to follow the trail and the trail in the trees.
The remaining part of the path, narrow, partly covered by vegetation but well beaten, permits a steady climb, alternating with short ups and downs to reach the saddle where we spot the church. Some portion size a slope steep enough though not dangerous. Better to avoid falls and proceed on foot.
From the col we are taller than 50 meters, it is amazing but I did! Until the saddle goes for about 5-10 minutes no more, including the tract just described after the Case Cros.
From here the trail descends quickly into the woods, crosses a gully and the turnoff to the fork of S. Mauro , and arrive in another 2 minutes to church.
The return I did it on the same route. Alone and with time covered I did not have the heart to groped fork and down the Val Canzoi.
