Trail Description

Presso l'Eremo è possibile acquistare: tisane, cosmesi, liquori, marmellate e cioccolate prodotte direttamente dai monaci.

XI - XII - XIII - XIV GIUGNO MDCCCXLVIII".

Path made on sections of the bike path, on secondary roads, a few stretches of dirt road on a dirt road near the hermitage of Camaldoli Garda.
Note that, for reaching the Hermitage in easy way you can take a dirt road (see waypoint) instead of along the dirt path at times stony tract forward.
only sore point of the entire perocorso: Punta San Vigilio can not be accessed by bicycle even if carried by hand. The cyclists are not welcome, even in low season!
Just before reaching Punta San Vigilio is a pitch from which you can admire a beautiful landscape of the Gulf of Barda, Bardolino and Sirmione (other locations off limits to cyclists).
First leg of the journey was the hermitage of Monte San Giorgio di Garda, which was built on the promontory of the same name (309 m.), which dominates the eastern coast of Lake Garda, in a very scenic location, where dall'862 to 1532 there was the church of San Giorgio. Were some Camaldolese monks coming from the Hermitage of Monte Rua (PD) in 1665 to settle Deleted in 1810, he was assigned to civilian farm until 1885 when they returned the monks who regained the Hermitage. On 23 April 1993 he passed under the management of the Benedictine Monks of Camaldoli.
After the main entrance go up to the square where stands the Church of San Giorgio.
At the Hermitage you can buy: herbal teas, cosmetics, liquors, jams and chocolates produced directly by the monks.
Garda In the center you can see the villa in which Carlo Alberto Albertini, in 1848, received an annexation of Lombardy to Piedmont. A plaque at the entrance of the villa quotes verbatim "CARLO ALBERTO - KING OF SARDINIA - INITIATOR GLORIOUS FREEDOM 'AND INDEPENDENCE OF ITALIAN FIGHTING FOR THEM AGAINST THEM WAS AUSTRIAN GUEST IN THIS VILLA DEL CONTE CARLO ALBERTINI
XI - XII - XIII - XIV June MDCCCXLVIII. "
