Facile itinerario che parte dalla s.p. per Poggio Valle all’altezza del fosso del torrente Rimaiano. Procediamo su bitume passando per le frazioni di Ioanella e Pastignano fino a quando, nella desolata frazione di Poggio Valle, l’asfalto cede il passo ad una sconquassata carrareccia che risale le pendici del Monte Tre Croci. Al primo incrocio svoltiamo a dx ignorando la strada per il borgo abbandonato di Valle Piola. Percorriamo l’intera carrareccia sino alla località di Acquachiara, dove incrociamo la strada per Pietra Stretta. Giriamo a dx in direzione Teramo e dopo aver percorso poche decine di metri prendiamo a sx per un sentiero che passa davanti ad un vecchio rifugio e poi scivola nel bosco. Costeggiamo un’area adibita ad allevamento di yak per uscire nuovamente sulla strada principale. Svoltiamo a dx e dopo una breve risalita, in corrispondenza del primo tornante, imbocchiamo a sx per un sentiero non segnalato e nemmeno risultante dalle carte escursionistiche. La discesa dal Monte Tre Croci è composta da diverse tracce che si intersecano pertanto essa si presta molto facilmente a subire varianti last minute. Nel caso di specie, scesi dapprima su prato e poi in single track sino a Colle Sansonesco, proseguiamo tramite sterrate per Case Sciarra e Castagneto. Da quest’ultima frazione un breve e velocissimo sentiero ci riporta nel fosso del torrente Rimaiano.

easy route that starts from Sp Poggio Valley up to the ditch of the stream Rimaiano. We proceed on bitumen passing through the villages of Ioanella and Pastignano until, in the desolate village of Poggio Valley, the asphalt gives way to a rickety track that climbs the slopes of Monte Tre Croci. At the first intersection turn right, ignoring the road to the abandoned village of Valle Piola. We cover the entire carriage road up to the town of Acquachiara, where we cross the street to Stone Hold. Turn right towards Teramo and after traveling a few meters left to take a path that passes in front of an old hut and then slides into the woods. We walk along an area used for breeding of yak to get back on the highway. We turn to the right and after a short climb, at the first hairpin, we take a left down a path not reported, nor resulting from hiking maps. The descent from Monte Tre Croci is composed of several tracks that intersect therefore it lends itself very easily to undergo variants last minute. In this case, I went first on the grass and then in single track up to Colle Sansonesco, we continue through the dirt for Case Sciarra and Castagneto. From this village a short and fast path takes us into the ditch of the stream Rimaiano.
