Trail Description

Partenza fissata in località Aprati.

set out in town Aprati. More precisely, we leave the car near the bridge over the stream and go up the sp pedaling in the direction of Paladini. When you reach the entrance to the first gallery, on SS 80 of the Gran Sasso, turn right along the path 300 CAI or the old road to the village of Tottea. The track comes straight uphill. Passing paying attention to the right side of the road, without any type of protection, below there is a cliff leaving no escape. The section in question must be avoided after heavy rainfall because the landslides are on the agenda and may cause separation of huge blocks of sandstone. Easily reach the hamlet of Tottea with its source from which it must be abundant supply of water for the rest of the trip. Enter town and follow the indication C.A.I. for Campotosto and we climb to the left up a steep gradient that makes us rise to about 1100m altitude. The rise and a softer bitumen gives way to a comfortable cart in false floor. It goes into the woods and the track ends at a clearing. We turn to the path to the left that climbs decided snaking between large boulders of sandstone. Cesa Low cut through the ditch and continue Ciambrone between patches of bracken and then back into the woods. The path, after having forced a few steps hintsPushing back to being pedaled, and a latch, leads near the dam of the Rio Fucino, a stone's throw from Lake Campotosto. Reached a crossroads, turn right always keeping us on the path that this time 300 rushes down to the ford of the Rio Fucino. We go up the Cannavinelle remaining always on the right track and cross the track which again falls Campotosto. Turn right and continue to the wide road which after a few tens of meters steep climb begins. Arrived at Pianocchie see the message CAI The Coppo but we ignore it for keeping us on the road halfway up that continues to Folgora. Starts with a nice trail that leads to Passo Ugly. We face a sudden realized with different places exposed to the moat. The track becomes more difficult and technical. Bad Pitch is no coincidence that this name therefore we recommend the use of all mountain protection for both the stringent traits to overcome in order to protect themselves from both shrubs and brambles that tend to close the track. Step left us behind Bad arrive on the mountain ridge that descends on the right Perone said. From the top you can see the village of Alvi. Begin to go down, making sure the bottom is not too easy but most of all the myriad of tracks dug by the animals that intersect causing us to lose the right way. In every way, just always stay on top of the ridge and cross a large pine trees to avoid losing the horizon. As you go down the track becomes more evident, although hidden here and there by fallen trees sideways. The path slips slyly toward Alvi last stretch, veering to the right, we allow ourselves a downhill race on a giant rock outcrop overlooking the valley of the Rio Fucino. From the fraction of transiting Alvi on Sp Aprati towards making some funny cut above the Torre del Mulino. A few hundred meters before the junction for Tottea we lose track of the ordinary going to quickly close our ring. Short but quite difficult and hard because of the particularities of the bottom of the descent and rugged that leads to the village of Alvi.
