Per i non toscani, le "cesse" sono le vie tagliafuoco, alcune delle quali percorribili anche in bici, realizzate per difendere i fitti boschi dal pericolo degli incendi.

Si imbocca la stretta stradina asfaltata che si inoltra nella valle dell' Alma fino a trovare l'inizio di una sterrata marcata come sentiero numero 32, che sale dolcemente fino al bivio per Tirli. Si piega a destra su una rampa ripida fino all' incrocio di Campo Orsi, dove si gira a destra salendo sul segnato n.47 . Ad un'ampia piazzola si tiene la destra in salita (si incrociano i sentieri n.49 a sinistra e n.48 a diritto) raggiungendo il romitorio di S.Anna e successivamente il cimitero di Tirli.
Si prende a destra attraversando il centro del paesino (acqua, bar, ristoranti) per poi girare a destra e scollinare iniziando a scendere verso Pian d'Alma su asfalto. Sulla sinistra si imbocca un'ampia pista forestale che percorre il fianco del poggio Ballone fino al poggio di Castel Maus, dove inizia una discesa scorrevole ma inframmezzata da brevi tratti sconnessi e tecnici. Quasi in fondo alla discesa si abbandona la cessa tenendo la sinistra su uno stradello che scende, si tiene successivamente la dx fino ai pressi del podere S.Anna.Qui si gira a sinistra costeggiando delle casette ed attraversando la SS322.
Si prende la SS322 a sinistra e la si percorre per 500 metri fino a trovare sulla sinistra il tracciato della vecchia strada per Castiglione della Pescaia, ora abbandonato e chiuso da una catena. Si oltrepassa la catena e si va avanti per circa 300 metri prendendo il secondo stradello sulla destra. Dopo 50 metri si trova un bivio dove si va a sinistra iniziando a salire su una mulattiera con strappi piuttosto duri ma su fondo abbastanza compatto. Si sbocca sulla cessa di crinale e si gira a dx aggirando il poggio del Caccino per poi arrampicarsi sul poggio di Santa Petronilla, dal quale si inizia ad apprezzare il panorama sul Pian d'Alma. Si arriva infine ad un bivio: il percorso completo continua a sinistra, girando a destra invece ci si immette sulla parte finale. Si continua a sinistra in discesa, si ignora una deviazione a sinistra e si arriva ad un altro bivio, dove si tiene la sinistra in discesa su uno stradello che diventa un single piuttosto veloce che sbocca su un' ampia mulattiera: si va a destra e successivamente a sinistra in discesa, si continua a diritto aggirando un laghetto ed infine si prende a destra in salita. Poco dopo aver scollinato un colletto si prende a destra in salita una carrareccia che sale ad una strada forestale più in alto, che va seguita a destra sempre in salita fino a trovarsi sulla cessa di crinale. Un paio di dure rampe portano in cima al poggio delle Bozze, che sovrasta le case di Punta Ala, per poi scendere e rientrare nel percorso fatto all' andata da seguire a ritroso fino all'inizio dell'anello appena percorso.
Si gira a sinistra (a destra se si fa il percorso più corto) e poi a destra imboccando la cessa del Piastrone, che rappresenta un vero balcone panoramico su Punta Ala, il golfo di Follonica e, nelle giornate limpide, sulla parte orientale dell'Elba.
La parte iniziale è piuttosto ripida e molto sconnessa, la traiettoria meno disagevole è sulla destra. Al primo bivio si scende a sinistra lasciando la cessa, che risalirebbe a diritto, per poi proseguire su una pista forestale sabbiosa a sinistra (la cessa continua e volendo è percorribile) che scende infine alla strada per Punta Ala. Si gira a destra, facendo attenzione al traffico, ma si lascia l'asfalto imboccando il primo viottolo che si incontra nella pineta a sinistra e successivamente lo stradello a destra che la attraversa, tratto dell' antica Via dei Cavalleggeri: si può raggiungere la spiaggia girando a sx ogni qual volta si incroci uno stradello. Arrivati ad un parcheggio si prosegue, si ignora una deviazione a sx ed una destra per sboccare al bivio dei campeggi, che vanno costeggiati prima su asfalto e poi su sterro fino a superare il ponte dell' Alma. Poco prima del podere Carpineta si gira a sinistra su uno stradello sabbioso, si entra nel bosco e si va diritti sul sentiero n.1, un divertente e veloce singletrack in saliscendi che percorre il margine del bosco. Quando si esce dal bosco si gira a dx oltre un cancello (da richiudere dopo il passaggio) verso la stradina asfaltata che proviene dai campeggi: si gira a sinistra ed in breve si arriva alla SS322, che va attraversata a destra per giungere infine al parcheggio. loc.Il Fontino, sulla Strada Statale 322 tra Follonica e Castiglione della Pescaia

You take the narrow asphalt road that leads into the valley of 'Alma until you find the beginning of a dirt path marked as number 32, which rises gently to the junction for Tirli.
