Partiamo da Isola del Gran Sasso e prendiamo in direzione Villa Petto. Dopo un leggero tratto in salita la strada inizia a scendere e svoltiamo immediatamente a dx in direzione di Pretara. Su comoda asfaltata attraversiamo dapprima l’abitato di Pretara per poi proseguire per Ceriseto arrivando fino a San Pietro dove si apre il fantastico scenario del “paretone “ del Gran Sasso. Iniziamo ad effettuare un paio di tagli di bitume transitando su stradine brecciate che si ricongiungono comunque alla strada principale la quale taglia i Piani di San Pietro ed entra nel bosco. Lungo il tragitto incrociamo due punti d’acqua di cui l’ultimo in prossimità della fine del bitume. Prendiamo a sx per la traccia n. 233 evidenziata da segni gialli e rossi sui tronchi d’albero. E’ parte del sentiero dei Quattro Vadi. Inizia un piacevole single track che, dopo qualche timido strappo in salita, scende deciso con fondo ghiaioso e sconnesso fino all’area campeggio sita a ridosso del Fosso Malepasso. Ivi giunti troviamo l’ennesima fonte dalla quale attingiamo acqua e proseguiamo seguendo l’indicazione per Santa Colomba. Attraversato il fossato incrociamo la seconda indicazione per Santa Colomba ma stavolta svoltiamo a sx e scivoliamo su tortuosa traccia tecnica sino a sbucare su strada bianca. Giriamo a sx e percorriamo poche decine di metri quando sulla dx notiamo una piccola tabella di legno indicante Pretara. Da questo punto parte un divertente trail tra le rocce che scende nel Fosso del Ruzzo. Il tracciato, a tratti ostico e occluso da qualche tronco caduto di traverso, sfocia infine sulla strada asfaltata che da Pretara porta al Lago di Pagliara. Prendiamo a sx e subito dopo viriamo a dx entrando in un’area bivacco. Seguiamo l’unico sentiero che esce dall’area e scende verso il fiume. Nella discesa notiamo a sx un ponticello, lo attraversiamo e transitiamo su una traccia ristretta che costeggia case ed orti fino a rientrare per un breve tratto sulla strada principale. Riprendiamo nuovamente a dx stavolta per scendere e attraversare il fiume. Ci troviamo sul sentiero n.117 C.A.I. il quale costeggia per un lungo tratto il corso d’acqua culminando nei pressi dell’agriturismo Santa Lucia. Rientrati nel centro di Isola del Gran Sasso in poco tempo torniamo al nostro punto di partenza.

Let's start with
Isola del Gran Sasso and take in the direction of Villa Chest. After a slight climb, the road begins to descend and turn immediately right towards Pretara. On an easy paved cross first the village of Pretara then continue to Ceriseto coming up to St. Peter's, where it opens the fantastic scenery of the "ledges" of the Gran Sasso. We begin to make a couple of cuts of bitumen on roads passing brecciate who are reunited however the main road which cuts the tops of St. Peter and enters the woods. Along the way crossed two points of water of which the last one near the end of the bitumen. Take a left for the track n. 233 highlighted by yellow and red marks on tree trunks. E 'part of the path of the Four Vadi. Start a pleasant single track that, after a few timid climb uphill, down decided with gravel and rough up the area campground located near the Fosso Malepasso. Once there we find yet another source from which we draw water and continue following the signs for Santa Colomba. After crossing the moat crossed the second indication for Santa Colomba but this time turn left and glide on twisty technical track until you come out on the road. We turn left and walk a few meters on the right when we notice a small wooden table indicating Pretara. From this point part of a fun trail that goes down between the rocks in Fosso del Ruzzo. The track, sometimes confusing and occluded by some fallen trunk sideways, finally leads to the paved road that leads to Lake Pretara Pagliara. Take a left and then immediately right viriamo entering bivouac area. We follow the only path that goes out and down to the river. In the drop-down list to the left we see a bridge, cross it and transiting on a narrow track that runs alongside houses and gardens to within a short distance off the main road. We take time to go down again to the right and cross the river. We are on the path 117 C.A.I. which runs along a long stretch of the river, culminating in the vicinity of the farm Saint Lucia. Once back in the center of Isola del Gran Sasso in a short time we return to our starting point.
