Trail Description

The Monte di Cambio (2,081 m asl) is one of the main peaks of the mountains Reatini. From the top you can see an interesting view on the Monte Terminillo, the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga all up to the Mount Carrier. Mount Exchange dominates the plateau below that goes from the pretty village of Albaneto to all the surroundings of the town of Leonessa. The classic ring that usually go along and touches the summit of Mount Exchange passes through the Fosso del Velino and Miciliano until you reach the Rifugio Sebastiani and then continue to the summit. In our case, it was decided instead to attack the Monte di Cambio from an unusual side that is remote from the Dark Valley. Dark Valley is one of the wildest and most beautiful valleys in the province of Rieti, a destination for hikers and hiking enthusiasts. Here, amid rough trails and breathtaking scenery, thanks to the difficulty of access have been preserved plant and animal species have disappeared elsewhere and preserved nature and sublime. Dark Valley offers landscapes and environments that they constitute a precious natural repertoire: from the valley floor where many rivers have created beautiful waterfalls and deep gorges, steep ridges to rich woods and luxuriant vegetation, to the endless prairies offshore. Crossed by the icy crystal stream Scura, is deeply embedded in the eastern side of the massif, dominated north from the slopes of Monte di Cambio and south by the number of peaks in the Mount Walloons. From the town of Post is along secondary road, the Via Salaria and arrive quickly to seal, a small village located at the mouth of the Dark Valley. We begin to climb out of the valley up to the resort easy carriage houses where we wade the river and continue the ascent on the opposite side alternating stretches ridable at times to push. We come to "Pisciarelli" where you can see a thin layer of clear water and drinking water coming down from the rocks covered with moss to form a poetic waterfall. The trail fords the creek again Scura and climbs steeply to the Malepasso. The trail forks right ahead to the hut on the left while Porcini salt to the Plans of Scura. In portage begins the ascent more difficult, the one that leads to the source Capo Scura where finally the track becomes more forgiving and returns carrareccia albeit still quite steep. Released on the green prairie Plans Dark admire the beauty of the mountains Walloons with Mount Elephant, Monte and Monte Brecciaro The Chorus. After 1,300 vertical meters we arrive at the pass above the Rifugio Sebastiani we reach quickly by cutting Lawn Christ. From the refuge we take on asphalt for the Saddle of Lioness and always descend on bitumen to intercept a track on the right which bypasses the Monte I Porcini, descends slightly to a saddle and finally goes back to the Hill of Pools. Last challenging tear in portage and we are in the peak of Monte di Cambio. The descent goes from long mountain ridge that culminates in Mail. He rushes initially from the summit to the track 427 that engages with the interminable 428 A short climb near Mount Iacci is the last effort before embarking on an exciting and fast single track from Monte Cavallo, from Colle dell'Ara Grande, widely remunerate all the hard work.
