Trail Description

Note:

Itinertario classic Sangone valley. It starts from Pontepietra, location near Giaveno to come up to the picnic area known as the collar of the stove. The toughest climb is not much except for the stretch from Km 3.5 to Km 5 Here the slope makes you feel a little bit. The return can be done by reversing the path followed or continuing toward the Shrine of the Grotto in Coazze. It is a replica of the shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes. If you choose this option (on the track GPX), the return starts as soon as you encounter a pillar representing the thirteenth Station of the Cross (see photo # 4, you have to go down the hill on the right). After crossing the iron bridge over the Sangone you leave the sanctuary and go downhill on the paved road that leads to oven and then to the starting point.
For those who want ... once you reach the thirteenth station, you can postpone the descent to the sanctuary continuing straight on the road for about 1km (very steep). After the fifteenth station, that of the resurrection, in fact you get to the high statue of the Redeemer. You will then must go back to the pylon XIII to take the road of the cross downhill.
Note:
For those who decide to ritonare to Pontepietra through the sanctuary warns that the road Way of the Cross is a very dangerous downhill. The danger is given by both the foliage that hides deep potholes and sharp rocks from both the transverse ducts drain rainwater (very wide and deep).
The paved road that goes down along the Sangone oven is in many sections alternating lane because of narrow roadway. Be careful. From Turin Giaveno you can get on the highway or taking the SS25 until Avigliana. From Giaveno follow the signs to Coazze. After a couple of km turn left to Pontepietra / Aquila (sign). Continue on the road that descends into the village until you reach the large parking lot on the central square.
