Questa volta abbiamo aggiunto un po' di pepe al giro classico di Monte Manulo.
Partenza dal comodo parcheggio del cimitero di Costamezzana, da li risaliamo leggermente verso il centro del paese per abbondanare quasi subito la strada principale e girare a destra, seguendo le indicazioni per la via Francigena.
La strada si impenna quasi subito, prima in asfalto e poi in ghiaia e ci porta verso il castello di Costamezzana, da li il fondo si fa in terra battuta e continua a salire fino ad incrociare l'asfalto della vetta.
Seguiamo ancora per un po' la via Fancigena per poi abbandonarla e proseguire lungo il crinale in direzione Case Mezzadri.
Giunti in prossimità del ristorante "Da Anna", prendiamo il viottolo che ne costeggia il lato sinistro e scende verso Banzola per una divertentissima discesa su terra battuta.
Giunti sull'asfalto che scende a Banzola lo abbandoniamo dopo circa 400/500 metri per salire a sinistra per una ripidissima salita che porta verso Fornacchia.
Da Fornacchia scendiamo a bomba verso il torrente Gisolo e risaliamo verso la strada che collega Tabiano con San Vittore. La prendiamo in direzione Tabiano per poi svoltare a sinistra seguendo l'indicazione Case Granelli dove dopo poco inzia un bellissimo single track nel bosco che scende per 2km con una pendenza media del 10%.
Usciamo sull'asfalto e risaliamo a Tabiano Castello. Da qui è possibile evitare l'anello che gira attornao TabianoBagni e tornare verso Monte Manulo, non prima però di aver nuovamente guadato il Gisolo e risalito la ripidissima e tecnica salita che porta verso il santuario.
Per chi invece ha ancora un po' di gamba è possibile buttarsi in picchiata per il sentiero che attraversa la pineta e sbuca alle spalle delle terme.
Dopo aver fatto rifornimento d'acqua alla fontanta che si trova di fronte allo stabilimento termale si sale il poggio in direzione Salsomaggiore per poi imboccare il sentiero sulla destra che si trova all'altezza del camping Arizona.
Una bella salita nel bosco ci riporta in quota. Teniamo la destra quando sbuchiamo sull'asfalto e poi ancora a destra per un ripido sterrato che incontriamo dopo circa 500 metri. Scendiamo tutto il sentiero fino a ridiscendere sulla strada che collega Fidenza con Tabiano, ma la attraversiamo solamente per risalire dal lungo (interminabile) ghiaione della Colombaia che ci riporta a Tabiano Castello e quindi a Monta Manulo e poi giù al punto di partenza a Costamezzana.

This time we added a little 'spice to the classic tour of Monte Manulo.

For those who have a little 'leg you can jump into the beaten path through the pine forest and comes out behind the baths.
After filling up with water at Fontanta which is located in front of the spa you go up the hill in the direction of Salsomaggiore for then take the path on the right which is located at the Arizona campsite.
A beautiful climb through the woods takes us back to share. Keep to the right when you come out on the tarmac and then right again up a steep dirt road we meet after about 500 meters. We go around the path until you go down the road that connects with Tabiano Fidenza, but only to cross back from the long (endless) scree of the Dovecote which brings us back to Tabiano Castle and then Monta Manulo and then down to the starting point in Costamezzana.
