Trail Description

The adventure today begins with the usual square of Santa Maria di Acquasanta Terme (AP). The Boar is honored to have as guests two mountains that will grind to industrial quantities: Sibillini-mtb! It starts by taking a right towards Acquasanta and now we're going to cut the country using a series of steps that lead on the Via Salaria. We ride on bitumen for several miles along the river from Tronto. Let the fraction of Quintodecimo and climb to Favalanciata. This ancient village in the mountains acquasantana, which appears already on the cards of the fifteenth-century church of S. Giacomo di Quintodecimo, has its peak in the fifteenth century when it was a fief of the Knights of Malta. Being the village located near the Salaria was affected in 800 of the structure of the road, its bridges as well as the temptation to break away from Acqusanta to pass under the nearby Arquata. In the communal struggles often comes into play for its fountain and the use of water runoff. We climb out of the country when we cross a dirt track on the right. And 'the path 401 C.A.I. that goes up the creek Rigo. We cross the wide road that passes through beautiful chestnut trees, in the midst of which you can see ancient buildings of sandstone. Curious is a wooden house built in the shelter of a giant boulder in the middle of a meadow, guarded by mules very nervous !!!. Continue until you cross the aqueduct of Pescara d'Arquata where the cart turns into thin path from the slope more and more pronounced. You have to deal with now about two hundred meters of ascent, carrying bikes on their shoulders through the vegetation and relieved only by the intense scent of cyclamen in flower. After a good walk, sometimes between brambles and critical gradients, we can resume with gravel just below the village of Capo di Rigo. The ascent to the village is short but tough, I'm a hundred meters in altitude to eat up all in one go. We come to the Cape of Rigo and we continue to climb up to a pass at 1050 meters. The road begins to descend and far already clearly distinguish the village of Peracchia. Also earned the aforesaid village, we start to climb towards the second group of houses and came to a clearing turn left for the track CAI that in the first section shows lenient but then turns and crosses the Fosso di Cervara salt and inexorable in the woods. The fatigue begins to be felt, especially when the body is forced to considerable effort. We climb over trees that hit the path and aim the summit of Mount Savucco. Once there, the view is breathtaking. There is a balcony overlooking sandstone and below us the forest seems to breathe. On the horizon ... Pizzo di Sevo and Mecera of Death. Following the track 418 that joins the 416, we are forced to passages prohibitive. Part of the trail is collapsed, in other places it is almost invisible. The advice I can give to those who venture from Savucco is to keep on the right track and take a little more tricky but less steep, which travels on the crest of the mountain and you hang up to 416'll feel touch on Monte Vicito and take the 417 , not without difficulty, Pizzo comes under the Arch. At one point on the left is a trail that climbs evident decided. We can choose whether to take the bike up to Pizzo for taking the lovely photos friendship. The view from Pizzo Arc is something terribly fascinating. Before us is a para jump into the void that makes your legs shake only at the thought of leaning over the allowed limit. Below, the valley of the Tronto. Peppe lies down and strip on the rock to feast his eyes on the ravine. Sergio, accustomed to so much splendor struggles to utter a word. The physical effort so far has not suffered from everyday but when it is rewarded by nature then the fatigue vanishes and the forces returned as if by magic. Retrace the route that descends from Pizzo and back on the 417 that now, finally begins to fall. The single track is one of those expert, the fund is well wrought and ensures excellent grip. The only major pitfalls are numerous severed roots present on the track. This leads quickly to a beautiful chestnut where a giant old chestnut tree marks the junction with a dirt road on the left which engages with the path below 402 N. We keep ourselves on the right and after a short climb uphill, we can again lash down for yet another compelling single track passing through Cape Castle. With nerves on edge and adrenaline levels of attention finally arrive above Cocoscia. Do not spend more than words to hellish descent to Santa Maria as the stretch is a "classic" of the Monte Ceresa, known and loved by the lovers of the all mauntain, feared by many ... and revered by those who, like us, feeds on emotions.
The Boar Thank you for your participation and Giuseppe Sergio Barboni Reversi and at the same time warned: this tour is belllo as soon !!!
