DESCRIPTION: From Paralia Kournan you along the coast up to Geogeoupoli, the stretches of dirt road in this area are few, minor roads passing Fones, the WP D you leave the asphalt and pass under the ruins of a castle, WP F SX gets a tract in return (Optional 340 meters altitude) to Mount Megha Oros, from the church at the top you can enjoy the view of the plateau of Askifou and mountains Lefka Ori (White Mountains) . Once in Imbros, after about a mile you will arrive at the ticket office located at the entrance of the Gorge of Imbros. One of the most beautiful gorges, impressive profondeed of Crete, measuring 7 km in length, 3.2 meters in width and a height of 300 meters. The rock walls are so convergent and obligations that at times one has the impression of crossing a tunnel. Since ancient times, it was the only road linking the south and north of the island, has been traveled by, merchants, soldiers, bandits and people fleeing from invaders. In the tightest spots where the rock you close the view and the wind bounces like an echo between the walls you feel the history of this throat. Back to us bikers start the fun with a lot of technical passages between boulders stony paths, attention to a trunk of a tree sideways, at various points it comes down to the most difficult passages, use caution, the only "half" that can enter even in case of an emergency is the mule, unforgettable will undoubtedly be the narrowest point of the gola. All'uscita shortly after there is a tavern, the route now focuses on Frangokastelo one of the best preserved castles of clay founded by the Venetians (Castel Franco).
This site and linked to the strange and not yet explained natural phenomenon of "Drosulites" in greek: those who come from the dew. at the end of May, beginning of June, shadows of warriors on horseback appear on the screen of the mountains, the phenomenon occurs around dawn, usually lasts about ten minutes. Many scientists have searched for an answer without much success, it seems the most plausible answer is a phenomenon of refraction of light coming even from the African desert.
Stock up d 'water, from the village of Kapsodhasos begins with a small Stelvio slope considerable and turns in series, the first point of life is the tavern in the WP P, in sequence meets Kalikratis, Myriokefala, Maroulou and descend into the gorge of Asi Gonia. Under Argiropouli abandon the asphalt to point to the north west, with some tough ramp, crossing a ridge we take the direction of the Cretan Sea, our goal Greece, Crete island, 3 km from Georgioupolis
