Nell’ alto territorio del Comune di Licciana, protetto a nord dagli alti crinali dell’Appennino e ad ovest dai più modesti rilievi che confinano con Bagnone, si trova la Valle di Apella, un luogo appartato e magnificamente intatto, inserito all’interno del Parco Nazionale dell’Appennino Tosco Emiliano e che prende il nome dall’ omonimo Paese e dalla sua antichissima Torre.
Si parte da Licciana seguendo la SP 21 in direzione Bagnone che in 1,8 km di salita ci porta alla Santuario di Panicale (o Madonna di Loreto). Da qui abbandoniamo la SP e prendiamo la stradina a dx ed alternando tratti in asfalto (traffico quasi assente) ad altri a fondo naturale, superiamo le località di Salano, Varano e Ripola ed usciamo sulla SP 22B poco a monte del Paese di Tavernelle. Seguiamo a sx su salita a tornanti che ci porta alla caratteristica Torre di Apella, un tempo piccolo Castelletto, poi Monastero ed oggi Agriturismo dove possiamo approfittare per una prima meritata birretta sotto la gradevole veranda che domina la valle. Un sentiero in salita ci porta ora al Paese di Apella (consigliata visita alla casa natale dei risorgimentali Biagio ed Anacarsi Nardi, combattenti con i Fratelli Bandiera) ed affidandoci ai segnavia CAI ne attraversiamo le strette vie uscendo su salita sterrata inizialmente dura e sconnessa poi più agevole e compatta che sale tra curati castagneti e terminando alla Prada del Re, una vetta erbosa adagiata sui contrafforti delle severe pareti del M.te Bocco che svetta ben 1000 mt sopra le nostre teste, il panorama è unico; Appennino, Apuane, Mare ed un’infinità di altri monti e boschi verdi a ricoprire la Lunigiana intera. Ripercorriamo ora a ritroso la medesima strada per circa 2,5 km, quindi infiliamo a dx una sterrata superando due toste gobbe e poi seguiamo su divertente sentiero che si mantiene alto sull’alta vallata di Apella (nessun segnavia), prima a ridosso del crinaletto, poi scendendo a mezzacosta ed infine in decisa discesa che termina sulla SP22B proprio sul valico che divide la Valle di Apella da quella di Bagnone. Sull’ opposto lato della strada infiliamo la carraia che scende ed effettuati 380 -400 mt circa, prendiamo a sx una sterrata minore; al bivio ci manteniamo in piano a dx ed ora su sentiero superiamo fossi (a mano) e castagneti fino a ritrovare un’agevole sterrata che scende al Paese di Ripola. In breve raggiungiamo la strada fatta all’andata che ora seguita a ritroso ci riporta al punto di partenza.

Nell 'high Municipality of Licciana, protected to the north by the high ridges of the Apennines and to the west by most small mountains bordering Bagnone, lies the Valley of Apella, a secluded and beautifully intact, located inside the Park National Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, and takes its name from 'namesake country and its ancient tower.
It starts from Licciana the SP 21 in the direction in which Bagnone 1.8 km climb brings us to the Shrine of Panicale ( or Our Lady of Loreto). From here we leave the SP and take the road on the right and alternating stretches of asphalt (almost no traffic) to other natural background, we pass the town of Salano, Varano and Ripola and we go out on the SP 22B just upstream of the Country of Tavernelle. We follow left on uphill switchbacks that leads to the characteristic Torre di Apella, a small time Castelletto, then Abbey Farm today and where we can enjoy a well-deserved first beer under the pleasant veranda overlooking the valley. An uphill path leads us now to the country of Apella (recommended visit to the birthplace of the Risorgimento and Anacarsi Biagio Nardi, fighters with Fratelli Bandiera) and entrusting us to CAI will pass through the narrow streets climb out of the dirt at first hard and bumpy and more smooth and compact salt cured between chestnut and ending at the Prada of the King, a grassy peak nestled in the foothills of the walls of Mt severe Bocco that rises over 1000 meters above our heads, the view is unique; Apennines, the Apuan Alps, Sea and countless other mountains and green forests to cover the whole of Lunigiana. Now retrace back along the same road for about 2.5 km, then sneak to the right a dirt road passing two tough humps and then follow the path of funny that you keep up on the high valley of Apella (no signs), first behind the crinaletto , then going down the hillside and finally decided on SP22B descent that ends right on the pass that divides the Valley Apella from Bagnone. Sull 'opposite side of the road we put the dirt road that goes down and made 380 -400 mt, we take a dirt road to the left child; at the fork we keep in up to right now and I was overcome on the path (by hand) and chestnut to find an easy dirt road that descends to the country of Ripola. In short we reach the road made the first leg which is now followed backwards brings us back to the starting point.
