Si parte da San Candido e si percorre per una decina di Km circa la ciclabile in direzione di Lienz, all'altezza di Tassenbach ho lasciato la ciclabile e imboccato la salita che introduce alla Tiroler Gailtal, in direzione di Obertilliach, ci sono due possibilità, percorrere la strada asfaltata, o seguendo la cartina optare per delle strade forestali, non sempre ben segnalate, che al sottoscritto hanno fatto perdere parecchio tempo. Ad ogni modo una volta arrivato nei pressi del bel centro di biathlon, ho imboccato sulla destra (segnale giallo), la strada che scende per raggiungere il ponte sul fiume Gail, oltre il quale comincia la salita vera e propria verso la Neue Porze Hutte. La salita è tutto sommato piacevole, con pendenza costante, che si accentua solo nel finale, superato il laghetto ormai in prossimità della meta. Rifugio, curatissimo molto bello e accogliente.
