Trail Description

Svizzera - (Bergun) – Albulapass
Doc. Top. Cartina Svizzera Bergun n. 258
Dislivello complessivo m. 1970 - Distanza Km. 60 Tempo percorrenza Tot. ore 10
Nota

Finale e rientro a Bergun.
In alternativa.

Switzerland - (Bergun) - Albula
Doc. Top. Map Switzerland Bergun n.
258 m height difference. 1970 - Distance 60 km Travel time Tot 10 hours
Note
Wonderful itinerary in the district of Central Grisons, with all the prerogatives and expectations, which should contain a route when dealing with high mountain routes. The gradient of the slope should not be overlooked, even if divided into two different phases and long distance from each other. Descents in the non-trivial but amusing and safely discerned.
Description itinerary.
Entrance to Bergun, where the deviation for the step, turning to the left, take the road that leads to the Tuors Valley, a few rides and just left the car park. Now no more room for error with a climb never overly busy and go into the valley to the small village of Punts On the Alp 1776 (All this stretch alternating stretches of asphalt and dirt very compact, where I presume, the year also access the car up last country, seeing the presence of parking spaces). From Punts On the Alp, now, with a series of switchbacks in the woods, you get up with more decision, but always managing to stay in the saddle until the fork at this point in 1956, without delay, leave the dirt road and for steep trail hintsPushing you exceed the demanding and challenging leap to the slight slope above. The continuation to the shelter continues with sweeping views in an open and sunny for good stretches where you can again ride. After a long climb roughly do good three hours we arrive at the shelter. The scenery is beautiful, in all the majesty can be seen on the top of the glacier and Piz. Kesch m. 3418 and finally make a long stop.
From the hut, you can now see the first part of the downhill in Val Funtauna, an infinite descent and long but quite easy. (Caution) at an altitude of 2439 to take the path to the right. Alp Funtauna joints, leave the path and wide dirt track, the descent continues without end in Val Susauna to the houses of Resgia. (Now you have several alternatives) Or you take the paved road that passes through the various towns of the valley to La Punt - or follow the directions of bike paths - or follow the GPS track attached to the report, in the direction of the Punt where to start the second part of the climb that ends at the top of the Albula m. 2312
Finale and return to Bergun.
If you have exhausted your resources and you are more than satisfied, my advice is to go down the pass road asphalt. With a fast downhill without much hassle you back to your starting point very quickly. Alternatively. From the pass, as it begins the descent to the valley, on the right, the path that leads up to Bergun. First part of the descent to Crap Alv, in part, some part of the passage of scree, the rest is mostly very easy and fun. If you want to continue the descent path, cross the road and now you have to go down a stretch of woods with bike by hand, but it is then paid off at the bottom by the beautiful body of water of the Da Lai Palpuogna. For photos, better go to the left, but if you want to drive along comfortably in the saddle of a bike, take the path to the right. After the lake, get back on the road but only for a few meters and re-enter on the path that always goes down into the valley to Preda (recommended). There remain now two sections of the trail before the end of all this down again infinity. The stretch (Preda - Nat) where a is the long stretch of wooden staircases that lead to a passage in front of the train tunnel and then continue down the path in the woods for fun. The stretch (Naz - Bergun) This is the most difficult part of the whole descent and the ride. The trail runs along the opposite side of the road over the pass, and with enough exposed sections where you have to get on and off again with bike on his shoulder for a short but annoying traits, then you get to Bergun wide dirt track. The choice is yours, if you avoid it or have the satisfaction to get off completely from the Albula Pass in the absence of traffic and in tune with what we are doing.
'Clear and obvious, that if in the first case, the return is fast, with this alternative timing of the descent stretch a lot, also in consideration of the different skills that each of us has in driving the bike. The same is true for the time spent to complete all the way around, a fact that should not be underestimated.
