Trail Description

This high street, about eight kilometers long, difficult but not exhausting for the ups and downs, takes place in a beautiful landscape on the ridge: on one side you see the group of Rieserfern-Ahr, the mountains of Casies and the Austrian Defereggen. In the opposite direction you can admire the Prags Dolomites, Sexten and Lienz. It starts from Valle San Silvestro, a little above Dobbiaco, and after having crossed the valley of the same name, you gain the Markinkele with one of the most beautiful climbs in South Tyrol. From here it is a succession of ups and downs along the thin path that follows the crest of the border crossing the Plank Sasso, Corno di Fana and Cornetto, Horn Alto, always on the edge of 2500 meters. At an altitude of 2,200 meters you leave the High Street and go past a fence on the left going down the steepest slope towards a small mountain hut (Dosso Gallina - Hühnerspiel). The trail enters the forest and after some stretch almost overgrown with dense vegetation, quickly loses altitude to return to the starting point.
