Trail Description



Straordinaria escursione, molto remunerativa sia dal lato paesaggistico che dal lato tecnico. Dal piazzale dell’osservatorio di Campo Imperatore si compie l’ascesa, tutta bici in spalla, fino al Rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi. Percorrendo la cresta montuosa, sospesi sopra Campo Pericoli e guardando in faccia l’imponete Corno Grande, si procede in salita alla vetta del Monte Aquila raggiungendo quota 2494m. L’interminabile crinale di discesa offre numerosi passaggi tecnici e scorci panoramici sulla Valle dell’Inferno. Giunti al Vado di Corno si intraprende il sensazionale sentiero n.106 che, con circa 900 m di dislivello negativo, in un turbine di svolte, drops e tratti di ghiaione, infine, dopo aver serpeggiato nella boscaglia, intercetta il Sentiero dei Quattro Vadi. Prendiamo a sx arrivando a Fonte Nera dalla quale si opta per la traccia a mezza costa che arriva ad incrociare la carrareccia che scende a Casale San Nicola. Da questo punto, sulla sx parte il sentiero 208 che, sempre a mezza costa, taglia le Gravare di Biselli e la Valle Situra per arrivare dopo una forsennata discesa alla Fonte Chiavatteri. Si prosegue sino alla croce posta sulla Vena di Fano per poi lanciarsi su sterrata che sbuca a due passi dall’abitato di Cerchiara. Passati sotto il viadotto dell’autostrada A24 si prende a dx la velocissima Via San Valentino che conduce ad Isola del Gran Sasso ossia il nostro punto d’arrivo.

From the square of Campo Imperatore Observatory is accomplished the ascent, the whole bike in the shoulder, down to Rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi. Along the ridge, suspended above Field Dangers and looking in the face of the imposing Big Horn, proceed uphill to the summit of Mount Eagle to a total of 2494m. The long ridge descent offers many technical steps and panoramic views of the Valley of Hell. Once I go to the Horn of you embark on the path sensational 106, with about 900 m of negative slope, in a whirlwind of turns, drops and stretches of gravel, finally, after having meandered into the bush, intercepts the Trail of the Four Vadi. Take a left coming to the Black Source from which you opt for the track halfway comes to cross the track that drops to Casale San Nicola. From this point, on the left part of the path 208 which, again halfway, the size of Gravare Bevels and the Valley Situra to arrive after a frantic descent to the Source Chiavatteri. It continues until the cross placed on Vena Fano and then jump on a dirt road, which goes a few steps from the town of Cerchiara. Passed under the viaduct of the A24 you take the right Valentine's Day fast Way that leads to Isola del Gran Sasso that is our point of arrival.
