Trail Description

We exit on highway 21 again, but this time we descend into the valley for about 600 meters; turn right towards the village and Prinardo, just past a bridge, we take a dirt road on the left.
The first part of the street on a level ground, then with some fairly pronounced tear begins to rise among the conifers, come out on a small grassy area with a tank that serves as a watering hole, still a few meters uphill and the road flattens.
neglect on our right the way up to the top of the Becchi Rossi and continue down the dirt road that soon becomes paved.
After losing about 100 meters above sea level there raccordiamo the paved road that leads to the refuge Pontebernardo Talarico, you start to pedal uphill until you reach the hut.
Near the shelter we can stock up on water at a fountain present on the left, continue straight on the road and just outside of the building and cross a small stream and then begins to rise sharply with a fund not very smooth, in fact in some places it forces us to push the bike.
The road remains so for about three kilometers.
reached a hut, we find on the side of the path a cool fountain.
From here the dirt road from us and start a beautiful trail that develops first in the false floor, but tracks a few hundred yards increases the slope and also starting a nice set of hairpins accompanied by small stringers.
reach a small grassy area, from which we can already see our half marked by the barracks on the right and crossing for Panieris hill just above it. < br> It continues to climb back up to get in the middle of one of those crossroads, hence we omit the track bends to the right and would lead us towards the hill of Stau, but continue straight on the path that runs along a niche within Madonna.
The path is still pedaled a few meters then passing in a rocky area forces us to go beyond them on foot, after this rough stretch you can resume pedaling even if the slope remains very challenging.
of the pedalability ' entire tour depends a lot on your training, as the climb keeps a high slope and the bottom is very challenging, so it's much in the strength of their legs if the climb in the saddle or on foot, accompanying the mountain bike.
reached the last hairpin before the barracks track leads us to face again a broken area, so with half the side reach the barracks, in the section that follows must be very careful in what you have to climb the rocks with the bike on the shoulder until reach the crest and the ruins of an old cabin for the arrival of the cable car which was used to supply the barracks.
reached the highest point of our trip (2715 m altitude.) we just have to start the descent towards the hill Panieris that we see on our right under the presence of an old bunker.
On the hill Panieris find many remains scattered on the slopes of barbed wire; then with a little 'caution to avoid an ugly hole we continue slightly uphill for a few meters and bend slightly to the right on a path that cuts across the hillside.
alternating walking and other pieces we carry in the saddle on the side of the wire ridge from which one can see the beautiful lakes of Vens, it continues to drop down to a small saddle called Morgon Step or Step des Blanches, a column warns us that we are entering in the park of Mercantour, so access to the mountain bike is prohibited worth 68 euro fine.
The tour goes on the French side down a few meters to link up with the trail that goes from the lakes of Vens and from there turn right to reach the hill of the Iron. Unfortunately
Because of the ban, but above all by the presence of the gendarmerie are forced to go with a bike back on the watershed to reach a weak track on the Italian side of the hill that leads us to the Iron Age.
finally begin our real down, go down with a little 'cautious the first part because of the loose surfaces and full of stones, but in the short improves and continue on a classic single track mountain.
Towards half you are faced with a small part in the rocks, so we have to push the mountain bike for about 10 minutes to get through various obstacles.
Climb into the saddle and descend on a great cross with a great background and a nice slope until you come to a crossroads.
This bifurcation leads to the left, uphill to the village of Ferrere, right, what we choose instead Forneris down to the river, walk a few bends up to come to a bridge.
Before the entrance to the bridge bend to the left along the left bank of the creek, track is lost for a short distance in the vegetation, but going to the left of a fortress in short we find our path, a small stretch to push to pass a stone and way back in the saddle.
The small track into the woods and between the thick vegetation makes us go down with some fun twists and turns, come out on a small road, turn right for a few meters and immediately on our left we take another path that continues in the meadow.
Keeping to the right of the lawn you descend some meters to reach a dirt road from here with great speed we find ourselves in a short time on State Road 21 near the starting point.
