Trail Description

Cinque Torri.
Qui, in preda a non so cosa, comincio a mulinare i pedali e stacco sensibilmente Marco+.

Siamo i soliti italiani pizza, mafia, spaghetti !!!

asfalto 4 km

dislivello 1570m

guadi coi piedi in acqua almeno 7

consumi : 1 panino, 1 barretta e circa 1 litro di bevanda definita integratore salino

frequenza cardiaca media (anziano cicloturista): 99 bpm

To think that here in the office even imagine that just last Monday, I and my friend Marco + were on the Forcella Col dei Bos (2331 m), which was enough to make a jump to touch the sky !! ready to go to Val Travenanzes.
Sometimes I think I'm just lucky.
Although I have a heavy mortgage to pay, even if my wife because of the crisis have lost their jobs, although it will be difficult for the My best working position in order to have an increase in my meager salary by impiegatelo engineering and then maybe allow me to pull a few breaths and economically able to do some gift to my patient wife or to schedule the purchase of a beautiful full that dream for too long ... now ..
... yes, we're just lucky I and my friend Marco +: at least a few days a year we are still able to go back and excite children in the face of certain events of nature.
We are lucky that we can go with our wheels fat on places that many people do not even know exist or maybe appreciate only in a few pictures or through some rare documentary on TV.
Perhaps we would all be much good if each of us had the desire or the opportunity to spend a day in the fresh air, to make healthy fatigue and admire some beauties.
Just for the record: we start from the plains to reach Cortina, before Fiammes we stop at the "casoin" just out of the center and buy a couple of paninazzi for € 5.60 then that will give us trouble when it's time to arrange them in backpacks, but not to fix them in the stomach.
The day is beautiful, slightly hazy sky and crisp air.
We parked the car near the offices of the Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites, just before Fiames.
We exchange a few words with two other bikers arrived there right after us and they too had decided to spend a day in the saddle, then we start just taking the dirt road from the parking lot and goes into the bush to the Camping Olympia.
The initial portions of ups and downs on mountain trail lead us near the resort Cadelverzo where we face a couple of miles of asphalt to reach the location Mortisa .
Restart the dirt road (trail 428) that will lead us to Pezzie de Parù, through the cute pond D'Ajal.
Except for some short sections with ramps firmer this first part of the trail is just ideal for putting motion in the legs.
After a brief stop at D'Ajal it starts following the trail 431; gradients become more assertive but not impossible and it comes up short in a small cottage in an enchanted place, where you can drink from a spring.
The trail continues up to Pezzie de Parù alternating stretches more or less a short steep descents , all seasoned with pozzangherone of mud that we immediately clarify the ideas and make us realize that along our route, moisture and mud and we'll find also a lot.
In fact, among the relatively recent thaw and the crazy weather of the past weeks there is water and streams are all nice and perky.
Arriving at the provincial climb to Passo Giau for a few tens of meters of asphalt and then turn right on the path that starts at a hairpin (trail 424 ) and along the stream Falzarego.
The slopes gradually become more and more important then the path narrows and forces us to get out of the saddle to ford the river.
We still walk short distances because the path becomes treacherous very steep until you cross the paved road that goes to the ref. Cinque Torri.
We own, under the Cinque Torri + when Mark says he still trusts my nose and my experience as a biker now been run.
I say: "Woe to do ... asphalt is bitumen that consumes !!! tires "and then to the 439 ... just that we are now walking again.
Slope toxic and bottom moderate force us to push the vehicle for at least 300 m, and Marco + that is, a little further down me, and I imagine that impels him mumble some saracca giving me some well-deserved curse.
go back in the saddle again just before you cross the paved road that leads to the ref. Cinque Torri.
Here, in the throes of what I do not know, I begin to whirl the pedals and Out considerably Marco +.
We are left then to bend over and over: I've already eaten half paninazzo ... before leaving I set to get the right to make a stop with a lunch break.
The sandwich had become like a hallucination that had led me to the climb with a frenetic pace.
engulfed the sandwiches we share a fun descent with some technical Which brings us to Ref Bain de Dones.
From here we descend for a few hundred meters towards Cortina on the road Falzarego.
Turn left to take the path 402.
'a dirt road with a slope fairly constant, with a more rocky bottom at times, passes the Cason de Rozes then cross the path 412
Continuing uphill to the Col dei Bos fork pass in a short tunnel (no need to turn on the lights).
Just over 2000 m above sea level and the air changes almost abruptly becoming cooler, the landscape opens offering behind us, a remarkable panorama sull'Averau and Cinque Torri while the fork is there above ... still a few pedal strokes.
About 200 m before scollinare, we again get off and push the bike path because the rears up unexpectedly with some rock steps.
Tofana Rozes and stops them in parking right in front of us the signs signpost planted on Forcella dei Bos, on the left marmottona that welcomes us with a lazy attitude; it is strange but even if there is nobody, it seems that the large rodent is used to seeing people go to them.
Or maybe, since the animal from extreme habits that can live and reproduce in an inhospitable environment such as high mountains, is at ease with us bikers.
Ben camouflaged with the almost lunar landscape that unfolds before us, we can see, still there after almost a century, the remains of the trenches and ambushes military during the war and then the river that flows Travenanzes right in front of them.
spectacular overview: a rugged landscape and picturesque that it seems like a great canyon, locked up between the vertical walls of the Tofane and the Mount of Laguazoi and Fanis the left.
And here begins the adventure of descent from Travenanzes.
Forgive us, we know that is off limits to bikes.
Long before you get them, are also shown signs of prohibition clearly visible.
They say that going to a variant of the 402 that door, front fork Travenanzes higher, there is no sign of this prohibition.
But there are rules that govern civil transit in a park natural and we should respect that.
We are the usual Italian pizza, mafia, spaghetti !!! Woman In fact, the ride we had planned had to walk on the path 412 to arrive at the shelter Di Bona and then reach the Passo Posporcora , but we could not resist the temptation to go down instead by Travenanzes.
We could justify saying that there are people, even more important to us (see politicians) who breaks the laws quietly staining of crimes far more serious than ours, but would be odious hypocrisy.
We are certainly not a good example of bikers, maybe we will go to hell without even having the chance to redeem ourselves, but at least for one day we saw a little 'paradise.
The single track trail 404 falls following the course of the river Travenanzes with an unparalleled variety of situation and views.
rocks, earth, stones, gravel on which to "float" at times decidedly challenging on different occasions where you need to get off the bike.
There like to clarify that we had an almost religious respect of the pristine place that we were going through.
We have taken care not to trample the flowers and do not damage the trails or grassy stretches with drifting or drift varied, almost trying to leave no trace of our passage.
We have not even taken photos, which hardly would reproduce the emotion that leaves us the memory of being there.
We are not ashamed to say that off the bike many, many times, even on sections that normally in other situations we face no major problems.
Here it is well to proceed with caution and to not ruin the trails and nature, either because of a bad fall could seriously jeopardize the day.
for not reading the signs distracted by a waterfall that descends from Tofana, even wrong track and take the path that would rise up to the ref Giussani, take the opportunity to snap a finger apple taste but the consistency of a Kenda tire.
Fortunately, in the case of difficulty in swallowing , the water of the river is Travenanzes them one step.
In essence, the fun starts when we reach the cason Travenanzes (1965 m.), also located in a charming setting.
start right here at wade feet (we have not supplied the boat) the stream for the first time and from here on in we'll make several river crossings and the river is nice load of water so beware.
Al Cason, short stop to enjoy the fantastic view idyllic and to take advantage of a source to quench our thirst, then continue ... and still rocks and river crossings all on a journey that is at times almost to invent saw that many landslides erosive have virtually erased the track.
After crossing a bridge in wood, we enter the stretch where the valley becomes very deep and at times the trail is quite exposed and here it is good to be lucid and have a lot of caution.
understand that perhaps one of the reasons for the prohibition bike is the presence of these traits exposed: a mistake here could have fatal consequences.
After the exposed area pass over a strip of snow under a stretch of nearly vertical wall of Tofana di Dentro, from which descends a very extensive rain water from farther away then that view , looks like a silk curtain that covers the dark wall of the mountain ... show exceptional and perhaps typical of the period spring !!.
Then you enter the forest with tight bottom one last ford, a very steep dirt road, bridge of Cadoris and you get to cross the dirt road that descends from the Val di Fanes.
Once there was a must visit the waterfall of Fanes.
We are then broken down into the broad white road trail 10 and then to the right 417, following the trail along a slight slope towards the Boite Cortina we returned to the campsite Olympia and then to the starting point of this tour unforgettable.
In addition to the observations already made with regard to the prohibitions we feel to say that this route can only be appreciated if you are a bit 'of the "purists" of the MTB.
Beautiful things are earned with sacrifice and here you have to be willing to do a little' hard work, have a spirit of adaptation, get off the bike, push, overcome various obstacles and rocky sections, bathing several times the feet and legs, dirty and dirty bike mud, fill the shoes of gravel, suffer a bit 'hot and a bit' cold and then not expect trails or single tracks always uniform and streamers.
We have embarked on this tour with a spirit of admiration and respect for nature.
The length, elevation gain, the trail conditions and our preparation we would have allowed it to employ a considerably less time, but it was worth stopping to listen to the silence, the sound of the streams, to admire the colors and the grandeur of the scenery, things that will be printed in our memory. < br>
Although the legs are mostly accustomed to the athletic motion of pedaling today suffer slightly stretches of steep trail covered in thrust.

< br> Some technical data:
dirt road 36 km of which slightly less than 1km by foot divided into several sections
asphalt 4 km altitude 1570M

< br> fords with their feet in the water at least 7
consumption: 1 sandwich, 1 bar and about 1 liter of beverage defined mineral supplement
average heart rate (senior cyclists): 99 bpm
