Okay, die eher zähe Asphaltauffahrt hinauf zum Furkelpass und der verbaute Gipfelbereich werden sicher nicht jedermanns Geschmack sein, jedoch das Panorama vom 2275m hohen Kronplatz ist astrein und allein der Abfahrtstrail über den 8er Weg machen diese in Olang (Valdaora) startende Tour selbst bei wolkenverhangenem Himmel noch fahrenswert. Zum Beginn der Tour erwartet einen also erstmal eine etwas zähe und ab dem kleinen Ort Geiselsberg auch steilere Auffahrt auf der Furkelpass-Landstraße, ehe man auf der Passhöhe die Bundesstraße verlässt und auf die anfangs steile, aber zumeist sehr gut fahrbare Schotterstraße hinauf bis zum Gipfel abbiegt. Oben angekommen, sollte man erstmal das bereits angesprochene Panorama geniessen, bevor man zur wohlverdienten Einkehr zur CAI-Kronplatzhütte zurückfährt. Bei einem (alkoholfreien) Weissbier kann man sich dann schon mal auf die Abfahrt einstimmen. Hierzu fährt man einige Meter auf dem Anfahrtsweg zurück bis zum Wegedreieck und biegt dort in den Wanderweg Nummer 8 ein. Nach einer anfänglichen Steilpassage führt einen dieser Traumtrail, kurzfristig durch ein Forst- und Teerstraßenintermezzo unterbrochen, bis hinunter nach Maria Saalen, wobei erst nach dem Moosern Kaser der Schwierigkeitsgrad kurzzeitig etwas anzieht. Das etwas Blöde an der ganzen Sache kommt, nachdem einen der Trail bei Maria Saalen ausgespuckt hat. Ab hier muss man um den halben Berg herumkurven, um wieder zum Ausgangspunkt der Tour zu gelangen. Und wer jetzt auf ein lockeres Rollout hofft, kann das gleich wieder vergessen. Die Rückfahrt ist ein zermürbendes Auf und Ab auf Nebenstraßen und Feldwegen. So gesehen wäre ein Tourstart in St. Vigil wohl sinnvoller gewesen. Beim vorliegenden Track handelt es sich um bereinigte Plandaten, erstellt auf Basis der OSM OpenMTB-Alps Karte (openmtbmap.org).
