L'itinerario è piuttosto impegnativo per la lunga e difficile salita fino alla sella di Sillian, ma una volta arrivati in cima ci aspetta un favoloso panorama sulle Dolomiti e una interminabile discesa fino a Sillian in Austria, con rientro in Italia lungo la pista ciclabile
VARIANTI
1)Al rifugio monte Elmo si può salire anche dalla forestale 4 che parte da S. Candido (tratti molto ripidi)
2) Chi non si fidasse a scendere per il difficile sentiero verso Sillian, può scendere su forestale passando per la Leckfeldhütte e poi fino a Sillian
CONSIGLI
Dalla sella di Sillian si può deviare verso sx e raggiungere la cima del monte Elmo, con magnifico panorama. Attenzione al sentiero che scende verso Sillian, ripido e tecnico, specialmente con tempo umido diventa molto scivoloso

TIPS
From the saddle of Sillian you can turn to the left and reach the top of Mount Elmo, with magnificent panorama. Beware of the path down to Sillian, steep and technical, especially in wet weather becomes very slippery
