Von Schlüchtern aus ist der Eselsweg (ein Karrenweg für die Händler mit ihren meist von Eseln gezogenen Karren) fast durchgehend gut beschildert. Zu Beginn fährt man eher über Flurbereinungungswege und geschotterte Waldwege. Nach ca 20km geht er aber in deutlich spaßiger Waldwege und herrliche Trials über. Der Weg wechselt dann öfter zwischen flowigen und zügig zu fahrenden Pfaden und teilweise technisch anspruchsvolleren Anstiegen und Downhills. Durch kürzliche Gewitter sind einige Stellen zum Teil ziemlich ausgewaschen. In diese Richtung ist aber alles gut fahrbar. Verpflegung gibt es direkt am Eselsweg nur an zwei Stellen: am Engländer bei km 57 und ca. 20km später am Echterspfahl. Bei beiden kann (und sollte!) man recht gut Essen, wobei es am Engländer leider keine Nudeln gibt Später kommt man noch am Hundsrücker Hof vorbei, der zur Zeit aber leider nicht bewirtschaftet wird. Insgesamt ist der Eselsweg ein herrlicher Weg mit tollen Ausblicken und klasse Wegen. Wem die 2200hm an einem Tag abschrecken, kann die Tour natürlich auch probelmlos auf zwei Tage verteilen.
