www.bilstein-bike-marathon.de www.mtb-nordhessencup.de Der SKS-Bilstein-Bike-Marathon mit Start in Großalmerode wird seit 2003 durchgeführt und verläuft durch den nordhessischen Kaufunger Wald der östlich an Kassel, westlich an Witzenhausen, südlich an Hann. Münden und nördlich an Großalmerode angrenzt. Die höchste Erhebung ist der Bilstein mit 641 m. Dieser Berg mit seinem Aussichtsturm, von dem man eine einzigartige Aussicht in das nordhessische Bergland genießen kann, hat unserem Marathon den Namen gegeben. Die Strecke führt ausgehend vom Schwarzenbergstadion nahe dem Panoramabad in Großalmerode in drei Schleifen um den Bilstein und endet wieder am Stadion. Mit 53 km Länge und 1300 Höhenmetern entstand mit freundlicher Unterstützung von Hessen-Forst und den privaten und öffentlichen Anliegern eine abwechslungsreiche Route für mittlere bis gehobene Ansprüche im Cross Country Stil. Das Rennen verläuft über geschotterte Waldwege, schmale Single Trails auf Waldboden, Downhills, kurvenreiche Abfahrten und steile Anstiege ohne öffentliche Straßen oder Wege zu kreuzen. Jeweils am `Vielarmigen Wegweiser´, der zweimal angefahren wird ( nach 19 km und nach 46 km), nach der Wassertretstelle in Dohrenbach (nach 38 km), sowie im Start- Zielbereich sind Verpflegungsstationen eingerichtet. Den Cracks unter den Mountain Bikern wird eine Doppelrunde (106 km/ 2600 hm) angeboten, und für Einsteiger wurde 2004 erstmals eine verkürzte Hobbystrecke -die mittlere Schleife entfällt- mit 26 km/ 600 hm ausgeschildert. Für die Nachwuchsfahrer wird im Stadionbereich ein Schülerrennen für 8 bis 13 jährige auf einem 2,5 km langen Rundkurs, der je nach Alter mehrfach durchfahren werden muss, ausgerichtet.
