Trail Description

...siamo in vetta 2486 mslm!!

To this magnificent ring to the discovery of Mount Velino and its Leopardian valleys, we start from Cartore, a medieval urban layout with the Roman Empire, which is accessed by a dirt well signposted along the SR578 near the exit of the A24 Valle del Salto (Mountains Natural Reserve of the Duchess).
From the source on the pavement Cartore the obvious signpost us to the lake of the Duchess: avoid the first for the valley of Fua and continue on the dirt track to rise before ..... with spingismo, then, after a few twists and when the sling gets slippery in portage.
Just when boredom surrounds us, we see to the right of the new trail: take the path, remarked red / white just by CAI, and we walk, first with beautiful steep switchbacks, then crosswise until you cross the path that led from Fua; portage. (As an alternative to always follow the main road).
Two hundred yards to lead us to push the folds Caparnie 1700 m, then pedaling more comfortable 100 m to the lake of the Duchess.
We follow the trail on the left side going up, pointing to the Solagne obvious saddle of 1960 m above sea level, with sideways uphill paths of herds: avoid the valley floor. From the col we walk around the path below the crest of the ridge to the col Bear 2175 meters above sea level, with a chance to ride on ups and downs and avoiding to go down to the ref. Sebastiani. Avoid touching the top of Bicchero, even if for a few meters of altitude, in order to economize forces !! Two profitable (downhill through meadows, with a few passing rock) down through the valley of the Bandits and the Fossa dei Cavalli, lead us to the presence of the steep wall that we will go to the summit ridge between Mount Cafornia and the Velino: 200 m altitude. Cafornia and Woman In view of the presence of the Velino stands the beautiful and scenic ridge pedaled !!
But for the Velino another 100 vertical meters ... the longest in the day to portage of tumbled and treacherous gravel, with the forces to zero, cramps behind the portage and the sun that makes you boil your brains !!! ..... then all of a sudden "I saw the Madonna!" Peak 2486 m above sea level ... we !!
Enraptured by a 360 ° view of the mountains of Abruzzo and Lazio and Marche, is expected to fall already: the first 50-100 meters of bike I have avoided, then in the deeper gravel was a pleasure !! the saddle aim towards the hut of Sevice, first with a latch on the path 3, then choosing the path 3A to climb and cross almost the entire head of the valley of Sevice up to the magnificent ridge.
At the hut we descend into the valley of Sevice until the source of the same name, for the sole supply of around !!, from there you traverse around the mountain at high altitude Rozza, to intercept the west ridge. Alternatively you take the ridge just above the hut.
This is the real discovery of the tour: the west ridge, little trodden, very technical and sometimes wild (we follow the trail green stamps), unfolds on the edge of the abyss that bounds the valley of teve south, with glimpses of rare beauty planes on cliffs of the valley, balconies and scenic foothills of the Dolomites !!
Then, when the trail at 1500 meters above sea level deviates sharply step toward the Forks (folds in the valley), after a stretch of 100 m too wild, it becomes flow and tight hairpins and technicians; Finally, fast and meadows to the pass.
We return to the 3.4 km of track that brings us back to NO in Cartore.
are 1900 m in altitude, in 8-9 hours, 29 km with pedalability a 15%
attention to water reservoirs and the dosage of the forces ... the Velino is not just around the corner ... even when you believe with your own eyes !!
