Itinerario sul Lago Maggiore, dalla parte Svizzera. La traccia propone la salita dall'Alpe di Neggia al Monte Gambarogno e la seguente discesa fino a Vairano. Per arrivare all'Alpe di Neggia si sale sull'unica strada asfaltata (vedere cartina sotto). Noi abbiamo optato per la macchna, dopo aver infruttuosamente provato a prendere l'autobus della posta, troppo piccolo però per farci stare dentro le bici.
Dall'Allpe di Neggia si pedala per qualche centinaio di metri, dopodichè bisogna mettersi la bici in spalla e portarla per 200 metri di dislivello fino alla croce del Monte Gambarogno, che rimane sotto la vera vetta della montagna.
Da qui comincia una lunga discesa impegnativa con panorami mozzafiato sul Lago Maggiore, Monte Rosa & co. Arrivati all'Alpe di Cedullo noi abbiamo preso a destra per i Monti di Vairano, anche la variante sinistra, che passa per i Monti di Gerra, dovrebbe essere fattibile (se qualcuno la volesse provare).
La discesa è tosta, con tratti rocciosi, tornantini ma anche pezzi fluidi nel bosco. Dai Monti di Vairano si aggiungono anche gli scalini alle difficoltà.
1300 metri di dislivello in discesa che non dimenticherete facilmente!

Route of Lake Maggiore, on the Swiss side. The trace shows the ascent of Alpe Neggia of Monte Gam- and the following descent to Vairano. To get to the Alpe di Neggia climb on the only paved road (see map below). We opted for the macchna, after having unsuccessfully tried to take the bus post, but too small for us to stay inside the bike.
Dall'Allpe of Neggia pedaling for a few hundred meters, then we must put the bike on your back and bring it to 200 vertical meters to the cross of Mount Gambarogno, which remains below the true summit of the mountain.
From here begins a long descent busy with breathtaking views over Lake Maggiore, Monte Rosa & co. Arrived at the Alpe di Cedullo we took a right to the Mountains of Vairano, even the variant left, passing through the mountains of Gerra, it should be feasible (if anyone wants to try).
The descent is tough, with rocky sections, hairpins but also pieces fluids in the woods. From the Mountains of Vairano we add up the steps to the difficulties.
1300 meters of descent that will not easily forget!
