Trail Description

Destination Cape Sandal, with its distinctive lighthouse on the cliffs overlooking the sea, whipped by a violent mistral 80% for the year.
Intermediate stage of Columns on the beach and on the cliffs of the Bue Marino.
Land : 90% asphalt, with possible fine debris along the curves on bends (eye drop)
Tires: I recommend the tires more 'that you have read and sliding, climbing are critical and the risk of drilling on the island and' down on asphalt, dirt on average.
Ascent: in total will climb 575 meters along the entire route. 580 will be hilarious :) oeil This descent route and 'must-try if you are in the south-west coast of Sardinia.
The island of San Pietro is reached by a ferry from Portovesme (frequent) or Calasetta.
My advice 'to visit the island in the cooler months, such as April and May (the most' green, to the island) or September and October (less tourists and heat bearable) .
The directions are very simple and you can do it even without a navigator since the island does not have many roads, but if they turn into a wrong there is' the risk of not seeing a living soul for miles. < br>
invaluable advice:
- use a backpack-bottle 2 liters (there are fountains along the route, and even kiosks or bar)
- downhill on asphalt even exceed 60 km / h, the brakes must be PERFECT
- frequent climbs and steep in the stretch to Cape Sandal: Go with adequate bike and possibly read, with a ratio of 32x34 or triple crown
- if you go during the months of April and October or when there is 'more' fresh always bring a windproof jacket, the wind from the sea is unforgiving!
- bring everything you need in case of a puncture! (Or use latex)
- equip yourself with a decent camera, or you will regret it bitterly :)
costs ferry from Portovesme: about 13 euro A / R (the bike costs 2 euro, binds and in the cargo hold and 'inaccessible along the journey).
