Trail Description

From the point of departure / arrival in Male Died Portella take the road towards Monte Soro and after about two miles you will reach the Portella Calacudera where you go uphill towards Monte Soro on a fund now paved, unpaved but now compact. After about 4 km turn left down under a thick beech forest and the track becomes more challenging with roots and technical steps, which become more challenging in the case of heavy rains that leave the soft ground and just pedaled. At the exit from the beech forest, the view opens on Simeto valley with Mount Etna in the background. It 's the point of return of the ring that brings us up to about 1830m above sea level Monte Soro, the highest peak of the Nebrodis. The road starts to be paved and goes down to Portella Calacudera. During the descent is a must stop all'Acerone Monte Soro, one of the largest trees of Sicily with its 6 meter maximum circumference and 20 tall. Continue finally on level ground until you return to Portella Male Died.
