Am Tag, als ich diese Tour aufgezeichnet habe, führte die vorletzte Etappe der Tour de France 2009 über den Mont Ventoux. Es war ein fast wolkenloser Sommertag mit sehr guter Fernsicht und einem mäßigen Ostwind, der die Temperatur erträglich machte. Meine Tour führt von Charavel vorwiegend auf Schotterwegen und Trails vorbei an Sabran über Monplaisir und Boussargues bis zum Quartier de l'Estang südlich von Bagnols-sur-Cèze. Von dort aus quert sie das Tal hinüber nach St. Pierre und erklimmt das Plateau de Lacau auf einem neu gekennzeichneten Wanderpfad, leider mit einer längeren Tragepassage. Auf der Höhe angekommen, geht es über steinige, teils technische Singletrails hinüber zum Camp de César. Hier lohnt sich ein längerer Aufenthalt, bei dem man sich anhand von Schrifttafeln über die Geschichte des Ortes "Oppidum de Laudun" informieren kann, die sich bis ins fünfte Jahrhundert v.Chr. zurückverfolgen lässt. Anschließend geht es über die Höhe zurück und entlang des Wanderwegs GR 42A hinunter nach Bagnols. Nach einer kleinen Erfrischung führt die Tour über die Straße bis Colombier und von dort aus über Wanderwege zurück zum Ausgangspunkt.

On the day when I recorded this tour, led the penultimate stage of the Tour de France 2009 on the Mont Ventoux. It was a nearly cloudless summer day with very good visibility and a moderate east wind, which made the temperature bearable. My tour leads from Charavel mainly on dirt roads and trails passing through Sabran Monplaisir and Boussargues to the Quartier de l'Estang south of Bagnols-sur-Ceze. From there, it crosses the valley over to St. Pierre and climb the Plateau de Lacau on a newly marked trail, unfortunately, with a longer wear Passage.
