Si tratta di un itinerario che percorre l'argine Nord del fiume Simeto al di fuori dell'oasi protetta e che quindi può essere percorso tutto l'anno senza dar troppo fastidio alla fauna che in questa zona dovrebbe essere meno presente. Per chi non abita in zona è possibile lasciare l'auto nei pressi della partenza vista la possibilità di parcheggio offerta nell'area di servizio.
Arrivati alla SP 77, subito dopo il cavalcavia si percorre una sterrata che arriva sino al Simeto e si colega ad un ponte che permette il passaggio sul'altra sponda del fiume (ma per il giro in questione non occorre usarlo), si prende l'argine prima del ponte e si ridiscende lungo il corso del fiume seguendo l'argine sino ad oltrepassare il cancello che ci permette di uscire dallo sterrato e percorrere i restanti km di asfalto che ci separano dal punto d'inizio immettendoci nella strada che ci porta alla SS 417.
