Antico percorso dei Sibillini utilizzato nei tempi passati da braccianti agricoli che nel periodo della mietitura migravano verso le campagne del versante tirrenico. Le testimonianze dicono che i mietitori camminavano di notte e lavoravano di giorno, dopo essere stati scelti sulla piazza dei paesi se ritenuti idonei a svolgere proficuamente il faticoso lavoro. In tale modo viaggiavano costantemente attraverso valli, colline e pianure tornando infine ai Monti Azzurri dove, nell’estate ormai avanzata, li attendeva il grano di Castelluccio. Noi siamo partiti da Altino per scendere dapprima a Vallegrascia e poi a Castro di Montegallo da dove per la strada provinciale abbiamo raggiunto, poco prima di Forca di Presta, il Sentiero dei Mietitori che abbiamo percorso fino a ritornare ad Altino. Poco prima di Altino è d’obbligo una visita alla chiesa di S.Maria in Pantano, una delle chiese rurali più antiche del Piceno (VIII secolo d.c.).

Ancient path of the Sibillini used in the past by agricultural laborers in the period of harvest migrated to the countryside of the Tyrrhenian coast. The witnesses say that the reapers were walking at night and worked during the day, after being chosen on the square of the countries if deemed necessary to perform successfully the hard work. In this way they traveled constantly through the valleys, hills and plains, finally returning to the Blue Mountains where the summer well advanced, awaited them the grain of Castelluccio. We started from Altino to go down first and then to Vallegrascia Castro Montegallo from where the road we reached just before Forca di Presta, the Path of the Reapers we've come to return to Altino. Shortly before Altino is a must visit to the church of Santa Maria in Pantano, one of the oldest rural churches Piceno (eighth century AD).
