Ein Mountainbike Klassiker auf Teneriffa. Nur zu empfehlen für konditionsstarke Biker. Wer sich für diese Tour entschieden hat, der muss sie auch bis zum Ende durchziehen, denn es gibt so gut wie keine Abkürzung. Die Tour bietet alles: Straße, Trails und eine Tragestrecke. Start zum Beispiel bei El Portilo. Erst einmal durch die Las Canadas auf der Straße, vorbei am Fuß des Teide bis kurz oberhalb von Vilaflor. Man sollte wissen, dass man in der Las Canadas nur auf der Straße fahren darf (sonst wird es teuer!). Als Biker hat man die Gelegenheit die einzigartige Vulkanlandschaft intensiv zu erleben. Aber man sollte trotzdem zügig fahren, da es sonst gegen Abend dunkel werden könnte. Oberhalb von Vilaflor geht es endlich auf einem Forstweg zur Galeria Pinalito. Die in allen Farben leuchtende Landschaft muss man unbedingt gesehen haben. Irgendwann ist der Forstweg mit Sin Salida ausgeschildert. Nach einer Schranke weist ein Steinmännchen auf den Trail hinunter in den Barranco. Unten plätschert (manchmal) ein kleiner Bach. Der Aufstieg aus dem Barranco kann je nach Jahreszeit extrem Schweißtreibend sein. Am besten ist es, wenn man das Bike trägt. Der jetzt folgende Forstweg führt hinauf bis zum Observatorium. Er zieht sich ewig lang, man kann aber durchgehend im Sattel bleiben. Je nach Wetterlage, hat man Aussicht bis nach Gran Canaria. Ab dem Observatorium geht auf der Straße hoch zum Corral del Nino und dann mit High Speed hinunter zum Ausgangspunkt El Portilo. Wer mit dem Bus von Puerto de la Cruz hoch gekommen ist, der hat jetzt einen 2000 m Downhill vor sich, sofern die Sonne noch hoch genug steht ...
