Itinerario che ha inizio in prossimità del bivio per la frazione di Fioli. Saliamo all’abitato di Riano dove abbandoniamo il bitume per arrampicarci su uno sperone di roccia arenaria che immette nella sterrata la quale risale il bosco dello Schiafarnito fino alla località del Ceppo. Una lunga carrareccia porta al Lago dell’Orso e termina in corrispondenza di una fonte pastorale ove cede il passo alla sterrata che risale gli Iacci di Verre per proseguire sulla Storna fino a giungere allla base conica del Pizzo di Moscio. In portage si punta la vetta zig zagando tra piccoli ruscelli fino a toccare quota 2411 m. Il panorama dalla sommità del Pizzo spazia sul cuore pulsante della Laga. Si scende alla sella sita tra Pizzo di Moscio ed il Monte Pelone per attraversare gli immensi prati che sovrastano il Fosso della Cavata. Raggiunti gli stazzi sotto le cascate si entra nel bosco e si intercetta la strada forestale che termina su un’area di raccolta legname. Il Sentiero Italia che discende il Fosso della Cavata inizia con un delizioso single track fino ad un piccolo rifugio ubicato nel bel mezzo di un’abetaia. La traccia prosegue più sporca ed insidiosa attraversando a valle macchie di felci che in estate possono superare anche il metro e mezzo di altezza. Insomma un sentiero antico e selvaggio ripaga ampiamente degli sforzi compiuti ma si raccomanda massima attenzione a i numerosi punti esposti che si incontrano durante i tragitto, specie nella zona di Passo Cattivo e quella che precede l’abitato di Padula. Insomma, escursione in ambiente inospitale ma sicuramente remunerativa per chi predilige ambienti selvaggi.
