Un luogo "magico" per passeggiate/escursioni in mountain bike
L’area in questione è inserita come Riserva Naturale Orientata all’interno del Parco Regionale Lombardo della Valle del Ticino e dentro i confini della fascia a Parco Naturale. La Fagiana nacque come Riserva di Caccia, intorno al 1808 circa, grazie a Vittorio Emanuele II che, rinunciando alla Riserva Reale di Caccia del Ticino, lasciò libera la caccia in alcune zone e cedette in altre il diritto di caccia a terzi, istituendo le grandi Riserve di Caccia Ticinesi. Allora la Riserva “La Fagiana” si estendeva per oltre 10 km in sponda sinistra del Ticino, da Casate sino alla Cascina Bizzarota in Comune di Robecco. Nel 1974, la definitiva abolizione della caccia, avvenuta con l’istituzione del Parco Ticino lombardo, ne determinò il degrado. Infine, nel 1984 il Parco Ticino lombardo acquistò gran parte dell’antica Riserva trasformandola man mano nell’attuale Centro Visitatori. Molte terre che dal 1945 in poi erano state alienate a terzi, sono state riacquistate dal Parco che le ha accorpate in un’unica proprietà; altre proprietà sono in via di acquisizione e ciò dovrebbe portare a ricostituire sotto un’unica gestione, finalizzata alla tutela naturalistica e all’educazione ambientale, buona parte dell’antica Riserva di Caccia.
I boschi della Fagiana sono compresi nella depressione valliva del fiume Ticino, nell’area cosiddetta della Piana diluviale recente, ovvero costituita da alluvioni fluviali recenti e attuali. Il territorio è costituito da un ambito a morfologia “piatta” anche se non mancano basse scarpate, arginelli ecc. Qui il fiume comincia a passare da un andamento intrecciato a un andamento di tipo meandriforme.
La mancanza di argini e cementificazioni delle sponde fluviali, in tutta questa zona, consente al corso d’acqua di divagare liberamente, inondando durante le piene gran parte delle terre comprese nella Riserva, mantenendo così un ecosistema fluviale dinamico.

A "magic" place for walking / mountain biking
The area in question is included as a Natural Reserve Regional Park Lombardo della Valle del Ticino and within the confines of the band in the Natural Park. The Fagiana began as a hunting reserve, around 1808 or so, thanks to Vittorio Emanuele II who renounce the Royal Hunting Reserve of Ticino, left free hunting in some areas and in other ceded the right of hunting to third, setting up large Hunting Reserves Ticino. Then the reserve "La Fagiana" stretched for more than 10 km on the left bank of the Ticino, from Casate until the Cascina Bizzarota in the City of Robecco. In 1974, the definitive abolition of the hunt, which took place with the establishment of the Ticino Park, Lombard, determined its degradation. Finally, in 1984 the Ticino Park Lombard bought large part of the reserve as transforming the current Visitor Center. Many lands that since 1945 had been sold to third parties, have been repurchased by the Park which has amalgamated into a single property; other properties are being acquired, and this should lead to reconstitute under a single management, aimed at protecting nature and environmental education, a good part of the ancient hunting reserve.
The forests of Fagiana are included in the depression valliva the Ticino River, in the area known as the Plain diluvial recently, that consists of fluvial recent and current. The territory consists of a sphere morphology "flat" even if there are low escarpments, embankments etc.. Here the river begins to move from a pattern woven in a pattern of meandering type.
The lack of overbuilding of dikes and riverbanks, in this whole area, allowing the river to wander freely, flooding during large floods part of the lands included in the reserve, thus maintaining a river ecosystem dynamic.
