Diese Tour führt entgegen der klassischen Beschreibungen "anders herum". Das hat zum Einen den Vorteil, dass man an Tagen mit viel Bikerverkehr nicht im Strom mitschwimmen muss. Zum Anderen erscheint mir subjektiv die Auffahrt von Hinterriß zum Karwendelhaus mit seinem gleichmäßigen und nicht zu steilen Aufstieg relativ angenehm. Los geht es am Parkplatz an der B2. Die Auffahrt auf der 8 km langen guten Forststraße zur Fereinalm (1406m) überwindet die ersten 510 Höhenmeter. Es folgt eine rasante Abfahrt und die zünftige Bachdurchfahrt hinüber nach Österreich. Jetzt geht es immer stetig leicht berauf knapp 10 km Richtung Osten. Hier loht sich zu Anfang mal ein Stop und ein "Rückblick" nach Nordwesten um die beeindruckende Ostflanke der 2257m hohen Soiernspitze zu bestaunen. Eine schneidige Abfahrt hinunter nach Hinterriß bietet vielfach herrliche Ein- und Ausblicke in das Rißbachtal. Unten angekommen fahren wir auf der Mautstraße gute 3 km weiter, bis es nach einer Brücke rechts in Johannestal geht. Der erste Teil des Weges direkt am Bach ist für MTB's gesperrt. Die Auffahrt hinauf zum Kleinen Ahornboden bietet auf der linken Seite stets einen imposanten Blick auf den 2427m hohen Laliderer Falk. Die Forststraße ist gut befahrbar und fordert jetzt um die Mittagszeit schon eine gute Kondition. Die Strapazen werden aber schließlich belohnt wenn man in 1400 m Höhe das Juwel "Kleinen Ahornboden" mit seinem mehrere hundert Jahre alten einzigartigen Baumbestand erreicht. Nach einer Rast geht es weiter, zunächst über groben Schotter, später leicht und gleichmäßig ansteigend zum höchsten Punkt der Tour, dem Hochalmsattel (1803m). 856 Höhenmeter auf einer Strecke von 16,3 km von Hinterriß hier herauf sind nun überwunden. Gleich danach erreichen wir das Karwendelhaus. Ab jetzt geht's bergab. Zuvor genießen wir aber noch ausgiebig den imposanten Blick hinunter in das Karwendeltal mit Wörner und Westlicher Karwendelspitze als markanteste Gipfel. Vorbei geht es an an der Angeralm und der Laretalm immer am Karwendelbach entlang hinaus nach Scharnitz. Ab jetzt fahren wir Richtung Norden entweder direkt auf der Bundesstraße oder auf den Radwegen durch Mittenwald zurück zum Parkplatz. Eine beeindruckende Tour ist nun zu Ende. Einkehrmöglichkeiten bieten sich an den vielen Hütten entlang der Tour. Technisch ist die Strecke nicht schwierig oder gefährlich. Jedoch ist gute Kondition unbedingte Voraussetzung. Da es bis auf 1800 m hinauf geht, sollte man immer warme Kleidung mitnehmen.

From now on, we head north either directly on the main road or on cycle paths through Mittenwald back to the parking lot. An impressive tour is now over. Eateries offer & nbsp; many of the huts along the tour. Technically, the route is not difficult or dangerous. However, good physical condition is an absolute requirement. As it goes up to 1800 m, one should & nbsp; always & nbsp; bring warm clothing.
