Im Auftrag der Reichsstadt Nürnberg erstellte im Jahre 1596 der Nürnberger Patrizier und Kaufmann Paul Pfinzing (1554-1599) eine Karte des damaligen Pflegamtes Hersbruck. Pfinzing war Landvermesser und Kartograph aus Leidenschaft, im Henfenfelder Schloss hatte die Familie ihren Landsitz. Zu der Karte legte er auch eine genaue Beschreibung des Grenzverlaufs vor. Er erfasste 113 Markpunkte, von denen 39 mit Marksteinen versehen waren. Weitere Markpunkte waren Orte, Mühlen, Brücken, Felsen oder Bäume. Entlang dieses Grenzverlaufs führt heute der Paul-Pfinzing-Weg. 95 km und ca. 2300 Hm, Markierung "PP" schwarz auf gelbem Grund. Der Weg ist bis auf sehr wenige Teilstücke mit den MTB befahrbar. Startpunkt am besten im Pegnitztal, Ottensoos oder Reichenschwand.
